JDM TRD Sound Changer Tubes

I was thinking about picking a set of these up to put on my car, but I wasn't sure how easy they were to install and swap out. I figure they'll be a cheap alternative until I can afford the actual TRD exhaust in a few months. I don't care if I'm the only one that will be able to hear the sound :D Could anyone give me an idea of what I'd be looking at for install time? 5 minutes, 10 minutes? Because if it's going to be a big job every time I want to change them out, I'm not sure if I'll even get them at all.

First time its about 10Minutes till you figure everything out, after that you'll probably only have 2-3 Minutes to change it. Its pretty easy

Are there really worth it?

Awesome, thanks man! Very very helpful. Now as a side question, since you obviously have the sound changers; Do you like them??

I guess that would depend on who is buying them... After watching the youtube sound clips, yeah, I personally think they'll be worth it.

I'd buy them again, as I'm not planning to put an aftermarket exhaust on my car. So its a nice way to enhance my personal "sound experience" on low budget. However, if you are the kind of guy that says the sound tube thing from toyota is "cheating", well, then thats a different story.

I've got mine from ebay. Something around 110 USD shipped worldwide

I just ordered mine from ebay about 10 minutes ago. About $95 shipped. Pretty good deal, I thought.

I'm thinking about picking it up, no promising intakes yet and the aftermarket intakes take out the sound tube anyways...

Is anyone organizing a group buy? I just Googled TRD sound changer and one of the links was ***************** where someone named Timding organized a group buy in November for $50 including shipping. That group buy is now over.

japanparts.com lists these for like $37 + shipping. Shipping to Midwest states is $31 so $68 shipped is not bad. I was surprised to notice the sound changer STILL makes a difference in sound even with my Takeda intake and GReddy SP Elite exhaust installed.

I ordered it from Carson Toyota a few weeks ago for $50 shipped. It looks like it would take a month to arrive.

/\ correct. I called them this afternoon and they quoted me the same. Lucky me I'm only like like 30 mins away so I won't have to pay for shipping :party0030:

Ghaaaa. I thought I was saving some money getting it from japanparts!
If I'd only waited a little longer to see the last few posts about Carson...LOL

Ohh well, I like getting packages directly from Japan :)
