BEST MOD I'VE DONE YET: Perrin Rear Shift Bushing

Many postings about this -- I just wanted it to come to the front of folks' attention who're just getting their 86. Install this bushing and the shifting on the car improves 100%, really tight, no longer feel the gears as you let out the clutch holding the shift knob.

Really? I know the wrx and Sri love thos but I thought the shifter in the frs is pretty nice already. How is the notchiness of the 1-2 shift?

Same here, I mean if I am not paying attention and being slow with my shifts my FR-S tells me. But when I am at speed making shifts it feels perfect.

Meh, installed the perrin bushing along with the whiteline insert, and didn't really notice any difference in the shifter feel.

In my FR-S I could easily wiggle the gear shift, 1->2 was very "notchy" and upper gears were not very tight at all. The only gear change I have trouble with now is 4->5, wants to go to 3 instead. Shifter is REALLY tight. I can't imagine having put this in and not noticing a stunning difference.

I agree its an affordable MUST do type of mod.

Drive it at full load, and theres a huge difference

First to second makes me cringe. I may have to buy this

I'm still having issues with 2nd - 3rd under load but it did tighten things up nicely.

I think the whiteline trans bushing is a much better mod if you have to choose between the two. I didn't notice -that- much of a difference with the shifter bushing.
