You're posting a track poll in the FI section. So I'm asking if tracks have started boosting cars. :)

gmookher 12-07-2012 03:25 PM

I have a race car. I am modding my BRZ as to make it a more enjoyable street car.

Keeping it simple for now. Borla Cat Back and drop in filter for performance. Dot 4 brake fluid and some good summer tires and im good for this summer.

yes we tend to go overboard though...

Yes.

After it is paid off I will (probably another 12-18 months) until then, autocross only. I'll continue to do track days with the Mustang until the BRZ is paid off.

If you're scared of totaling your car you still owe money on, there's always track day insurance

I'm not scared of totalling a car I still owe money on (although it could happen), I'm more scared of someone else doing something stupid and totalling my car. Track day insurance is an option, but would about double the cost of a typical track day from the quotes I've seen, and I have another car (or two) that is very enjoyable on track and is paid for.

I picked #1 but with a caveat. I am signed up for a track day later this month and will be modding to make it ready for the track (upgraded pads, fluid) but it's not my intent to compromise the daily driver aspect of the car too much. I see the car spending a lot more time doing canyon runs and commuting than track time. So I think for now the stock tires and suspension are just fine. I modded my MR2 to the point where it was no longer a pleasant every day driver and I don't want to do that again (I still have the MR2).
