i have 2 i keep in the car.
1 is the 86 usb stick. but its only 1gb

Hmm the manual recommends 8GB max for the USB drive and that's why I chose this Verbatim one. Maybe the processor is rated to maintain ideal speed/efficiency up to an 8GB drive but can still also read larger sizes.

oh true, it could be different requirements for the BRZ HU. i think the FR-S one can handle portable HDs under 250GB. anything beyond 16 or 32 seems like overkill though.

I've heard that, but I have the 32gb Sandisk Cruzer Fit in mine. It works with no problem.
