Sound damping
So i wanted to add some sound damping to the spare tire well and maybe a small amount to the doors and had a few questions.
1. Anywhere else putting some would be a good idea? 2. What brand and where would i order from? |
I have used many different brands, but i love the brand Stinger Roadkill Expert. I buy it off amazon.com. I always look for the best price shipped, some have really great price but charge alot for shipping. Well where else to put it depends on your goal, just stopping a panel from resonating i would cover about 25% of that panel. For sound deadening and making a quieter ride then do the whole panel, but thats going to add weight. Dynamat works well but is expensive, fat mat works well as well and is considerably cheaper. hope this helps

Front tire wells. A ton of sound can be blocked by insulating this area although it seems counter intuitive. That would actually be the first area I would do. Then perhaps the front doors and firewall. The spare tire area is not contributing that much noise in my opinion.

I want to dampen the sound of my exaust a bit, seems like a lot of the sound comes from the trunk area.

This build thread has some pic's showing his sound dampening http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12662, and I also did a search on Fatmat (one word) and there are a few more threads on the same subject that might have some answers for you.

Also for the single most improvement do the headliner. Its always been the biggest improvement.
