Scion Factory Remote Start?

So i searched and there are no posts about anyone buying/installing a factory/upgrade remote start at the dealer.

I know that most alarms/remote systems that dealers/service shops sell are aftermarket, but since they can program our keys for the alarm...cant they do remote start too?

my salesman hooked up my girlfriends new 12' tC with an alarm and remote start... she just bought her car last saturday... and is gettin them installed friday.... so why cant i install the same remote start system?

i have an automatic and upgraded factory alarm...

any ideas?

Back when some one took pictures of the SEMA event they took a picture of a push to start that was going to be able thru the dealership. Not so much info about it that I know of (I forgot the name) I thought it was cool because they would replace the door handles and give you the key less entry feel. I would assume it would also be an alarm but like I said :iono:

Just because it's dealer installed doesn't mean it's made by Scion. I used to work at a Mitsubishi Dealer and we would install an aftermarket system whenever someone wanted one. Needed the bypass box and everything.

so i guess nobody on here has done a remote start yet (not referring to push button diy)... just wanted to see opinions, what options, brands, 1button vs lcd 2 way transmitter etc

remote start weighs too much because race car.

Go for viper or compustar. They're both good alarm systems and have the option of remote start

I have compustar remote start/alarm. It's their top of the line model. Love it, especially in the Canadian winter. Works from maybe 800m away (they claim 1 mile).

if you want remote start, Compustar is the only way to go. At least in my opinion, i wouldn't waste my money on any other alarm/remote start system unless its Compustar, if you do decide to go for an aftermarket system. But then again, this is just my opinion. I'm not just saying it without having no other experiences, I have had many other alarm systems with remote start. Viper, Clifford, Cobra, and a few other generic brands. And no I did not pay to have any of these installed, it was just something that was already bought and installed in the car when I bought the cars a while back. Clifford alarm systems wasn't too bad, think Car Toys sells them, but still Compustar is the best I ever had and would spend money on it for every one of my cars any day.Even if you don't go with remote start, their 2-way pager system is just amazing. Even the basic 1-way is still great, and not overpriced at all! You can normally find em for a very good price!

I am the only scion frs to have the Viper 5904 with all the accessories and I must say I love it. I can turn on my car from my phone. It sends me a text when someone is to close to my car, looking through my windows, or trying to tow my car. If you have any questions I can help you out.
P.S. I think I'm the only one with the Viper 5904.

Sorry to reopen this post, but I was wondering if anyone have their remote start installed by BestBuy Geek Squad. I am inclined to not trust them but it is so much advertised on their site, Just wondering if they are cut out for this.

There is a dealer close by for viper but not for compustar. I have no past experience with remote starters either Viper or Compustar so i'm not sure which way to go, but living in MI is proving the remote starter a must have item.

TIA!

I worked at a dealership for 2 years in the aftermarket electronics department - All we installed was Compustar and never had any complaints - They WILL work from up to a mile away (if in an open field) and I have personally tested one at .4 miles with a building in between (every wall it passes through will effectively cut the usable distance in half). They also have ones that comes with alarms that the installer can easily change the sensitivity on. They also have a mobile app if you want to get that add-on as well.

People would come in all the time with problems from other brands but I never experienced anyone with Viper.
