How to tell if you have the Bongiovi upgrade?
I keep hearing about how crappy the stock speakers sound from posts on here unless you have the Bongiovi upgrade, but find mine sounds very good.
I didn't pay for the Bongiovi, just the touch screen head unit (Canada gets a VERY basic unit stock, or a pioneer touch screen upgrade, no nav). Is there any way to tell visually (under carpets, looking at speakers, etc) if mine came with a freebie upgrade? |
I believe I have the Aerosmith upgrade. :happyanim:

Nope, sorry, I've got the Dave Clark 5 upgrade......
|
do you mean bonjovi?
|
No, I mean Bongiovi... maybe it's a Canadian only option?
http://www.scion.ca/scion/en/build-p...ild-your-scion Click on Audio Accessories, it's available both factory and dealer installed "Bongiovi Acoustics DPS" |
whoa
who knew? heck I want the Metallica option... |
If Bongiovi was installed, there is a small Bongiovi Acoustics DPS badge that would be installed on the dash trim above the top right corner of your head unit.

^^ Other than that, any way to tell? I keep hearing people saying how crappy their stock deck/speakers are, but I find mine are actually better than some aftermarket systems I've had in past cars.

The basic stereo is still an 8 speaker 300w system... Factory stereos are starting to get really good

It would have been written on your invoice, I'm pretty sure.
I got the pionner upgrade (the US version of BeSpoke).I'm sure it's the same unit though. And I agree that the speakers are quite good as long as you don't blast it too loud. Just got to turn the bass 2 notch down from max. |
I have the bongiovi accessory. To see if you have it installed take off the radio face plate trim. Then remove 4 screws to loosen the CD Deck. Directly below the radio is the Bongiovi amp. It looks like a computer hard drive and it's hard to miss in such a small space.
My Bongiovi had no sticker on the Deck so taking it apart was the next idea. If you need to find out what the unit looks like just go to http://www.bongioviacoustics.com/index_main.php and poke around. I believe it is only a Canadian option. The Bongiovi DPS digital amp is the full name I believe. |
You can also go in the audio settings on your touchscreen display. If you have the Bongiovi upgrade, you'll have the option to activate it "DPS on" or something like this. Sorry I don't know it off the top of my head, but it's one of the selections where you can change the bass level and such (on that same screen).
