Side Exit Exhaust

Has anyone seen this done on a FR-S yet? I was thinking something like a Boss 302 side exit exhaust(very flat tips). Clearance is the only thing that comes to mind when doing this, thats why everything needs to be really flat. If you cut just after the main Cat on the stock exhaust you would elimanate alot of extra pipe for a muffler delete and it seems like it would be real easy. Just don't run over a badger and rip the pipe off.

That's very Mustang-ish of you. Lol IMHO, the side exhaust would throw the overall style of the car off... Especially having flat muscle tips... But hey, it's your car, and I don't mind seeing a first. :)

Yeah I'm sure the style police would crucify over it.

Vipers do it too. I think it's more of a american car thing\hot rod.

Sidepipes aren't legal in most of Europe, so you're right that it's more of an American thing. That said, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren received a special permit for it so that's one European car that you'll find with such a system.

how would you fill in the exhaust holes though?

Turbowned 12-04-2012 03:35 PM

Your rear bumper's gonna look pretty stupid, jussayin'.

Ok, besides looks, are there any other thoughts?

Just make sure it doesn't sound like a lawnmower or people will start to think you are cutting grass.

I saw someone on here made a mold to make the exhaust holes flush.

side pipes

I know this is an old post , but did you ever try the side pipes? I just bought a 2015 fr-s and I had the same idea. I think the fr-s has a classic sports car look . I was also thinking vintage looking true spoke wheels and red strip tires! crazy?
