TRD Style Quad exhaust

Hey guys,
Got a mate who more or less makes exhausts for a living. He is gonna make me a TRD style quad system. He said if there was interest he would make a few... No pricing as yet, but much cheaper the genuine.... Would anyone actually be interested??

I thought the whole point of a genuine TRD exhaust was the branding + warranty can't be void.

If you are going to make an exhaust, maybe get something different made to what we can already buy?

you cant see the brand when it is on, and a cat back exhaust wont void your warranty.

If i didn't already have a zorst, i would take you up on this, the quad tips look tough.

It can very much void your warranty if say it leaks and melts your rear bumper.

And I dunno about NZ but TRD part warranty isn't upheld here because the dealers don't retail it.

lol ^^ anal much.

I replaced my exhaust and i dont know what happened but my rear bar just spontaneously combusted... Warrantttyyyyyy!!!

i think what fudd was getting at was, any reasonable warranty claim will still be kept valid (ie your engine blows up.. there'd be no way they could say it was the exhaust)

This. The only time where you couldn't make a claim with your warranty is against your after market exhaust. For that, you would make a claim against the after market manufacturer. The rest of the car would still be under warranty unless the problem was directly a result of the aftermarket exhaust.

Does anybody in Sydney have a TRD exhaust set up yet?

DanVIIIVI 12-04-2012 08:16 PM

I'm interested Nafe!

My car turns up in january and i haven't decided on an exhaust yet. Considering most of the ones that are on my short list require international shipping and the TRD is the one i wanted the most i'm super keen to investigate a locally built quad tip.

For a cheaper option you can unbolt the single tip and bolt or weld on a double tip. Then you either need to alter your bumper to accommodate it or buy the TRD bumper and i think you also need the muffler garnish.

Of course this is purely for looks and not sound or performance.

That's what I was going to do before I got bitten by the TRD bug. I even have the spec for the double tip that looked closest to the TRD one if you want the model and code let me know and I can post it, but have to look back at research folders.

The TRD tips are pretty cool though. Angled quite thick stainless steel with TRD etched into one tip in each side. Excuse the rain drops and dirt on the attached - haven't wiped her down today!

Hmmm, well maybe I like the quad tips?? And maybe, as much as I love the TRD exhaust, I don't think it is worth $2k for a rear muffler....
If you're not interested, then that is fine mate, But other people might be :)
And the TRD branding doesn't mean shit for warranty. TRD isn't backed by dealers in Australia. it is the same as any other axleback exhaust as far as the dealer is concerned.

Sweet, too easy Dan :) I will let him know that I have another interested person.
If anyone else is keen, please feel free to let me know, otherwise can we try to keep on topic??

You try to help out the community and the thread goes to shit.... :/

So what are the closest quad tips? I love the rear trd kit but can't' justify buying the exhaust haha
