If you look at a picture of an STI and my car you will notice they are oriented the correct way.

-_- I should leave this thread. Go back a few months and I'm saying exactly what you're saying but this week I've gotten everything wrong. I blame work.

:word:

I was going to call it lack of sleep. The two are not mutually exclusive...

ADebelius 12-05-2012 05:14 PM

:bonk: Man I must have been tired. I get it. Basically you just rotated it around the rotor so the leading edge still hits the same piston first and swap the bleeder to the top. Doh....

What about the brake bias though? From what I read it seems our rears are actually stronger than the brembo's?

King Tut 12-05-2012 10:20 PM

Brake bias is just a pad change away. The STI rear calipers still have clear heat and pad swap advantages.

Are the stock rotors not compatible due to size? Thx

King Tut 12-11-2012 07:48 PM

Yep. The STI rotors are both thicker and larger diameter than the BRZ ones.

so basically in order to isntall the calipers you have to buy thicker/larger rotors?

i have a set of 04-07 sti brembo at home.. does the larger rotors apply to this brembos too?

Jamifra 12-13-2012 01:10 PM

what brake lines are you using?

for example stoptech steel braided lines for frs/brz work with the brembos?

King Tut 12-13-2012 05:14 PM

I used a set of Goodridge SS brake lines meant for the BRZ, so I am sure you can get the Stoptechs to work as well. The 04 sti rotors will work in the front because they are drilled for 5x100, but not in the rear is my understanding.

That is correct. The 08+ rear hat design is completely different; in addition, the WRX went to the STI parking brake diameter (190mm) in this generation so using re-drilled STI rear rotors shouldn't be an issue.

I have a set of 2004 STI rotors I'd love to sell you. Centric Premium blanks.
