Am i getting a good deal?
got a quote at a custom audio shop to add some subs in this car (FRS lacks bass!) this is what a got:
2 12'' subs in a custom box in the spare tire compartment and an amp and all the wiring and installation comes to $880. that seems like a bit much to me especially considering i havnt even touched the OEM speakers yet. or am i wrong? i figure that $1000 should be enough for an entire badass system. |
What's subs and amp are they putting in?
I was gonna get an audio shop to do all the labor and I supply all the parts, 110/hour and they quoted 8 hours for install , all speakers , sub and 2 amps I-Tapatalk |

i know for speakers they recommended hertz and i believe the subs had a 'j' in there like JLW but idk just blowing letters out of my butt.
what subs would you guys recommend? might just buy them myself and have the shop install them. i like metal (if that matters). realistically, my budget is 1200-1300 sorry, i'm totally new to this. |
It totally depends on what they are actually putting in there. If they are putting in kicker comp's youre getting ripped off, if they are putting in JL audio W3's or Alpine Type R or Type X(doubtful) then you should be alright depending on the amp and so on.
The setup you described could range in price from probably $600(mostly for the custom box) for a bunch of crap, up easily over $2000. |
I run Hertz in my BRZ, but they are the high end ones (HSK). I know they have lower lines of speakers. I have no complaints about them at all. JL's are hit or miss. I've heard really nice JLs, and really crappy ones....
