Seibon FA Style Hood on Whiteout before painting.

So I finally got my Seibon hood in from Vivid Racing (who gave me a killer deal on this hood). I plan on painting it to match the car and leave the vents carbon like RWDRIFT's car. I also have the Seibon roof spoiler and SN Style trunk spoiler, which I'll post up pics later when i have time after work.

_F-R-S_ 11-30-2012 09:21 PM

Keep it black

KGFRS86 11-30-2012 09:27 PM

If you get the roof wrapped in black or CF vinyl it'd be a sick combo...(if you don't paint it.)

Supermassive 11-30-2012 10:03 PM

I seriously considered not painting the hood once i installed it because the finish and weave just look perfect. I am just not feeling that much black though. I really like the white and prefer the carbon bits to be accents and not overpowering the white.

i_4got 11-30-2012 10:15 PM

Can't wait to see the SN spoiler on a Whiteout! I'm seriously tempted to get it.

laoloser 11-30-2012 11:11 PM

How was installing it ?
Was any slight modification needed or did you just swap it out and call it good ?

PS it looks amazing, can't wait to see it painted :o

I'm gonna try to get it installed tonight while on my lunch break, we'll see how that goes.

It's pretty much a direct swap, theres a small black plastic piece on the back of the hood on the driver's side that will not get reused though. The purpose of the piece was purely cosmetic, as it just blocks you from being able to see the hinge from the drivers side...I am considering installing it, but am afraid to drill into the bottom of the hood to do so.

Love the hood!
But how would the paint look on CF?

FT-86 SpeedFactory 12-01-2012 12:08 AM

Looking great! :)

JoeBoxer 12-01-2012 12:40 AM

Got an idea, it might not look good but what if you left the center of the hood carbon, wrapped the center of the roof and did cf in that indented section of the front bumper cover? The lines are there just not sure how it would look, maybe somebody could photoshop it?

feel free to flame away just a random idea...

Supermassive 12-01-2012 01:32 AM

So here's another teaser I guess before I can take some better outdoor pics this weekend of the SN style spoiler. Sorry for the crap quality...but it's night out :iono:

The CF on these parts would look fine with paint, the coating is pretty much mirror finish, these arent dry carbon bits so there is absolutely no actual surface texture.

finch1750 12-01-2012 04:44 AM

Can't wait to see it painted. I think it'll look sick

Draco-REX 12-01-2012 10:36 AM

How is the weight compared to the stock hood?

Oh, ill have too look into that...

Rokkinpo 12-01-2012 10:36 PM

looks hot I like the trunk lip I think u should paint it also

Supermassive 12-02-2012 12:24 AM

After having the car out during the day today, I think the CF lip is taying CF, it finishes the rear end of the car and having that contrast there just looks sick. I keep getting a ton of people saying they really like the hood and should keep it CF, but I just feel like its too much. Different strokes for different folks they say.

One thing that is still up for contention on whether or not I should paint it is the roof spoiler. Ill post up a few pics and see what the concensus is in another thread that Im gonna start.

How is fitment with the gaps? Some companies just can't get the gapping correct.

How long was the wait time for your delivery? I ordered the OEM CF hood on black friday but haven't heard or seen anything in terms of shipment yet.

Supermassive 12-02-2012 03:45 AM

The gaps are pretty much spot on, the passenger side gap is a little wider at the back of the hood but you would have to be as anal retentive as I am to really notice it. It's probably just due to me slapping it on real fast before i had to go to work and not taking the time or effort to align it perfectly. The contrast between the black CF of the hood and the white of the car does make the gaps seem wider though...I measured versus the stock and they are almost exactly the same. I'm gonna try to get a bunch of really high def pics this weekend with everything installed so people can get a better idea...just need to find a photo hosting site that won't resize my photos so small like Photobucket does.

Ordered my oem cf hood like 2 days before black friday. It arrived on Nov 30, but i had to wait until this following monday Dec 3, for them to actually deliver it.

This?!? Is it actaully lighter?

Lammie 12-02-2012 01:27 PM

I'd prefer to leave it myself, but my BRZ is black already.

Either way... Sexy, sexy girl.

Once I take off the CF hood to get it painted I'll weigh it for a comparison, but based on my highly tuned sense of weight, the CF hood is marginally lighter than the stock hood. To be honest though, buying one of these hoods for weight savings purposes is kinda moot. Its alot of money for little weight reduction, I bought mine solely for the cosmetic aspect. The stock hood just looks too plain and unexciting while this Seibon hood just looks like pure sex on this car. I guess its nice that there is a weight reduction, but the stock hood is super light (I removed and installed the hood by myself in about 20 minutes). Anyways, I am gonna clean her up right now so I can take some really good pics today!
