SRT exhaust doesn't fit Australia.

So after all day stripping down my exhaust and trying to fit my new SRT Exhaust
It doesn't fit. The reason for it any who has a right hand drive car you will find that the steering column shaft will be perfectly in the way of your over pipe.

After looking at other images of previous installs, I found one image of the header pipe with the steering shaft missing. Makes sense, as the exhaust is made in the states. So for every one in Australia if you are going to get of these exhausts be prepared to have the over pipe redesigned for it to fit.

The cat back version should be fine though.

I removed the headers to see if could get it to fit of course with no luck. Good thing was it was only 6 bolts to remove. That was the highlight of my many hours today knowing another great deign feature of the 86.

Here is the over pipe and installed exhaust.

As you can see the over pipe was never going to fit. I cost me $276 to get a new pipe made. To be fare it took 2 and a half hours to make it up.

This exhaust is LOUD. I have the larger resonator as well, its ok cruising but put your foot down and your stereo becomes redundant.

Not at all. I'm just saying that if you intend to buy a header back exhaust for your 86 be sure that it is designed for a right hand drive vehicle. I forgot that even though the exhaust is on the same side the steering shaft will be in the way of the over pipe.

So just letting people know it won't fit straight out of the box. Tomorrow I'm going to my local exhaust shop for a few mods to make it fit.
I was looking forward to fitting this myself.

Thanks for your question.

Excellent, is it a cat back or header back system.

Header back... front pipe, over pipe and cat back. About 15hp gain.

Car Mods Australia will fit the Perrin header back exhaust onto their BRZ so if there is any issue id think they will report it.

On that note though guys, do you think it's worth upgrading the exhaust hangers? Or not much point?
I'm not sure if ppl only do this when their cars are worn a bit more...

So far I can confirm the perrin overpipe and catted front pipe fits like a glove

I love this exhaust! How much was it all to get shipped? Also who did you go through?

Post up some vids please!!! :D

I'm curious too, as this one(and the Nameless) were my first picks. Eventually I ended up giving up on both as none of the vendors who I contacted, even the manufacturers themselves were interested in shipping them to Australia because of the cost of freight.

Ended up with my HKS and am pretty happy with it. Although the SRT exhaust from the back looks soooo much better..
