Ahhh, after many many many many hours of diagnosing, and testing, and replacing parts, etc., after a fresh engine swap, I'm pleased to announce that the 86 is back on the road, running better than ever.

I'll snap some pics or something in the future, once I get ahold of my friends digi cam. Don't get your hopes up...she's changed little from the 7 year old pic in my sig (being poor and in college during those years doesn't allow for much free money to spend). Definitely not as 'crisp' as GZE's white hatch....nor his track slut now that I think about it.:D

Congrats on getting your 86 back up and running! It's always satisfying to have a project get on the road again. What engine did you put in it?

just another bigport (1st gen) 4A-GE, rebuilt to factory spec, nothing special. Its an upgrade in a way I suppose, since the old 4A was so far gone that factory power is a step up.:D

It was more of just a budget project with the goal of getting it back on the road ASAP. I just missed my baby. A local guy (Friend of friend) happened to have a rebuilt 4A-GE that he was holding onto for a '78 Corolla project but agreed to sell it to me when I asked about it, so I jumped on the opportunity.

Now that its back on the road, and running extremely well, my next steps will be a total refresh of the rest of my suspension (bushings, rear links, etc.), followed by a rebuild/replace of the LSD. After all of that, I'll look into making more power to the ground. Have been heavily researching converting over to dual side-craft carbs. Will probably go that route and replace the camshafts at the same time.

I used to see your car all the time in my friend's old neighborhood. Good to hear it's running well. Definitely one of my favorite AE86s.

Congrats bro. I know what it's like to have your car get back on the road after being out of commission for a while, it's an awesome feeling.
