When will you be doing your first oil change?

I get 5 complimentary ones and my sales guy recomended scheduling the first one when my car has like 7000 miles on it or something like that. Im not waiting that long. When are u guys doing your first one?

In Canada the recommendation for oil change intervals is 10,000kms so around 6200miles. I did my first one at 5,000kms / 3100 miles.

Did mine at 500 but do it all myself.

From the UOA at 1000 miles Blackstone showed a lot of contamination. So I would say anything more that 3000 is too long for a first change.

Did my first at 3,000.

I did mine at 1,000 miles which I paid for as expected. The first free one comes at 7,500 miles.

My first was ~7600 miles. Oil analysis shows higher amounts of wear than other people who changed earlier. But this is to be expected for a longer change interval. The wear rate is what should be considered (per mile) not the total contaminants.

Blackstone told me to wait till 10k miles for the next one.

What is blackstone? And you guys have a similar free oilchang desl? So if i want it done before 7500 i have to pay for it?

I did mine at 2800. Had a certificate for a free oil change at the local Scion dealer. Oddly enough, they used Mobile 1 instead of OEM.

Leads to my question: What oil is suggested, and weight. Thanks,

Blackstone Labs is an oil analysis company

I have three? free oil changes, and I had the dealership put some of my used oil in one of blackstone labs containers

Weight specified by the mfg is 0w-20. that's what was used in my car and I really don't see any reason to go with something else.

im plannin to change oil @ 500 and another @ 1000 with tranny and lsd oil

Craig 11-28-2012 03:29 PM

I did one at ~1500, gonna do my next at 5k then every 5k after that. I get a few free from the dealership (2 or 3) and will use those till they run out. The one at 1500 was done by me...my first oil change to boot!!!

PS: My old car was a beater (also my first car) that I had for ~4 years and never took interest in doing work myself, just got into it with my FRS purchase!

I had mine performed at 7k miles. Did not feel the need for one any earlier... It's all up to the owner.
