Has anyone tried sourcing spares for the 86 from Toyota yet?

I tried today to get a few parts and the parts guys did not know what I was talking about, nor could they give me prices as the 86 is still new. Had to call me back after 5 hours to tell me the price and then advise they don't have stock I must put 50% deposit and they will order from Japan.

i.e. be nice to your brake pads people... Toyota brakes are frighteningly expensive!

Will try and phone some suppliers tomorrow and get an idea on discs and pads for an 86 std. Very much Subaru based I have read.

So Vic, how are you finding the black, very sexy hey!!! i must say from all the colors I've seen the black does look to stay the cleanest for longer or at least the nice glitter in our paint shines through the dust and looks clean from a distance, and for some reason if you do get a scratch its not white but black, mmmm strange but i like

The black really turns heads - the glitter is epic though it does catch every bit of dust and water...

At least this new improved summer we have which is more like winter allows us not to use the aircon ocassionally... :) LOL

i must say when washing her, stay out of direct sunlight!!!! the water evaporates almost instantly leaving ugly streaks, but hell if i had to chose a different color it would still be black, i blacked out my Toyota emblems and removed the Toyota badge on the left corner of the boot lid, epic as people cant tell what car it is till up close, what really amazes me is that a lot of people aren't aware of the 86 didn't even know it existed

I've had lots of fun with Porsche's... They do not know what an 86 is, and how it haunts them in the corners... :) I've also seen the ugly streaks in direct sunlight - watermarks a problem...

Hey mate, not sure what soaps or polish you are using, but in case you have not tried Meguiars latest products especially the synthetic polish, which can be applied in direct sunlight, wipes off easy and does not leave white on the black plastic parts.

Recommend the detailing spray and the synthetic polish, keeps car looking new and takes all fines scratches away. Perfect for your black.

Also tried the wash and wax, simply spray and wipe, awesome for the day to day clean.

i just love the way this car makes heads turn, people actually stop and stair!!!!!

My best was the little kid on a BMX pedalling like mad to keep up and giving me a thumbs up on the 2nd day I had it.

Update on Spares - phoned Star Brake in Edenvale - 86 isn't in the catalogues yet from what I can see - they would need samples or alternatively to see the car. Surprisingly they didn't quite know what it was, until they described it as that new sexy looking thing and remembered the adverts...

Apparently rear brakes on the standard model are from a 2008 WRX...

Meguiars rocks Ryan, have been using there polish for years now,
haven't used there wash and wax yet, been using auto amour car was, but i think i should start, thanks for the reminder.... will check the site

@Ryan86 - I think I will try that Meguiars - also on my other cars - sounds very good. Another alternative is Autoglym

R1600/set for the front pads. But don't worry, they're stock standard WRX STi pads so you can get them from anywhere. ;)

I've bought a new sun visor(R700) and it was painless. Got a price quickly and it took about 3 weeks to arrive from Japan.

I've been using Adam's products for years after messing around with Meguiars and I'll never go back. They're "buttery wax" is simply brilliant and very easy to apply. Smells nice too. ;)

@sav - that pricing is for the high-spec though which has slightly larger front rotors...
