So the switch on the inside of the trunk isn't pressed? That's the only issue I've ever run into with the trunk when I pressed it by accident

Bet its the touch pad switch failure. I see it quite commonly on older Equinox/Orlando/Terrains at work with the same symptoms.

What ever it was was fixed 2 years ago!

So hate to bring this back after 4 years, but now MY17 trunk is experiencing this problem...

Valet button is off.

Release on the dash and button on the trunk does not work.

When I hit the button on the fob, it makes the beeping noise, but trunk stays still as a rock.

Any suggestions?

Use deadly force.

Can you hear the click of the release mechanism too, or just the beep?

Just the beep. Mechanism seems to be the thing that’s not releasing

Push down firmly on the lid while activating the lock. I had a twig get in between the lid and the car body that put too much force on the latch for it to release. Had to put a fair bit of weight on the lid to relieve the pressure so it would work.

Bring by the house and I will lean on it for you.

If you still can't get it you may have to go in through the back seat and use the manual release.

Do be cautious not to push in the middle of the trunk as you'd probably dent it. Pretty sure I've slightly dented my door by leaning on it while washing.

The key IS the manual release. What you're suggesting is a life hack.
