How was install on this? Need anything extra? No issues with exhaust leaks?

1strwdcar 12-07-2012 12:38 AM

Received mine today. Installed it love it polish it rev it shift it. GO!

Hardest thing about install. Removing stock muffler off the rubber hangers pre spray with WD 40. Jiggle it around then pry off.

Awesome! Youll prolly want the catless front pipe like im about to buy

Craig 12-07-2012 03:28 PM

Any dynos IE: Baseline vs Q300 catback vs Q300 cat + overpipe?

I know its a pain, but it's whats holding me back from choosing this over the Perrin.. Perrin has proven gains vs stock and I'd like to compare ^_^

Kensurs 12-07-2012 05:38 PM

^ This.

1strwdcar 12-08-2012 01:00 PM

Anyone hear from the speed factory today?

Sorry we don't have that data. We will have it on our Exhaust system the V1 once all portions are completed.

We're running the Q300 right now with Invidia Catless front pipe and aFe intake.

Our baseline back in August was 158WHP, the Dyno run with the Q300, Invidia catless front pipe and aFe was 173WHP.

Invidia does not make an overpipe at this time. :(

Craig 12-09-2012 03:02 AM

hmm, safe to assume at least 10whp from the front pipe/catback then ^_^

That may have just won me over, now all there is to do is decide catted/catless..

ScionFR-S 12-09-2012 03:08 AM

what is the difference between having the catt with the catless? obviously a newbie here haha , and do you guys sell the aFe drop in filter you had with the dyno? just a simple swap over the stock with the install correct?

Craig 12-09-2012 03:19 AM

The catless front is exactly that, doesn't have a catalytic converter. The cat on the midpipe is arguably unnecessary because of the cat on the header, however it would help filter out more emissions making the car better for the environment. They also produce a slightly different sound...Some will like the catted better, other the catless. I'm leaning towards the catless for price / sound. Now I've gotta chose between N1 and the Q300.

As for power, there's no difference as the cat they use is a highflow cat ^_^

ScionFR-S 12-09-2012 11:42 AM

Awesome, thanks for the clear and concise info !

Yep the aFe drop in is a simple filter change. Takes 2 minutes or so to do. :)

do you think Fa20club's overpipe will align properly with the invidia front pipe?

Should be just fine. Has to come out to the same place to mate up with factory equipment or other front pipes. :)

Craig 12-09-2012 03:55 PM

Going catless, is there a downside other than environmental conerns? Is there an O2 sensor behind the second cat that would throw a code?

That catless price is INSANE and I cannot turn it down O.o

There is no O2 sensor after the header so a catless front pipe will not throw any codes. There are no sensors to detect it. :)

No problem. I was enjoying the Q300 and Invidia catless on our car. But now with snow and salt on the ground it's hiding inside.

Hopefully it clears up in a few days want to get E85 loaded and do some dyno pulls with it.

ToytoyTT 12-15-2012 09:11 AM

Do the videos on this thread include the Catless front pipe or is it just the Q300 catback?

Interested to hear what the q300 + catless front pipe sounds like.

Alphalfa86 12-17-2012 09:36 PM

I recently bought the Invidia q300 cat back and perrin drop in filter for my frs. I had a few questions after my purchase and was amazed with the kindness and fast response i got from Jermey at Ft86speedfactory. Not to mention I got a sweet suprise from them with my order. Highly recommend any purchase through them. The exhaust and filter have seemed to smooth out how the car runs. The exhaust has a good note thats not overly loud. Have a video of a few free revs but cant figure out how to get it from
My phone to here

Appreciate the support guys. Without it we would not be able to continue to provide videos and photos of all the exciting FRS/BRZ parts that are coming out.

We have more coming soon of the Q300 with some other goodies installed like the Borla UEL header. :)

Dipstik-sportech 12-22-2012 02:48 AM

Just got back from my first longish highway trip (Duluth, MN)with the q300. Perfect! Zero drone, loud enough when you get on it. Overall very pleased with this system and as always with the service provided by FT86speedfactory.

TRD_86 12-22-2012 10:57 PM

The Q300 has similar design like the Greddy elite sp. The gain could be very little around 2hp~3hp and the price is same as around under $600. Now which one has better deep sound Q300 vs Greddy Elite ? :)

The Greddy Elite, well I was told to not say anything if I can't say anything nice but..... All you get is the axle back with the Elite.

The Q300 gets you larger diameter piping from the front pipe all the way back.

With that being said both are similar in sound and products we stock.

I'd go Q300 for the $$$.

Do you know how many HP gain for Q300 catback vs Greddy elite (~3hp) ?

Question, the catless front pipe won't cause any cels correct? The main one is in the headers? Being CA I know its illegal to remove any cat, but on new cars its six years before it needs to be smog. What do you guys think?

You are correct. No CEL for removing the cat on the front pipe. We have been running the catless front pipe with no CEL issues. The header is where the O2 sensor gets it reading.

Also, you can always keep that stock front pipe to put back on for inspection. I know it's a hassle, but an option!

Cheers!

Yes I know. I plan to keep all my stock parts for a just in-case moment. This car is my DD. Would the Q300 plus front pipe be to loud? I want something that sounds mean, deep, but not overly load and obnoxious like the big potato shooters on older Civics and WRX's ( you know the large fart can that you can hear from a mile away)

jflogerzi 12-30-2012 04:54 PM

Also when you have a video up with the Q300 and catless front pipe. This is the combo I am eying :) Maybe along with a light weight pulley for good measure. Then finally a tune in the coming few months to bring everything together with my aFe intake :)

The Q300 with catless front pipe is not loud at all. It's sounds almost identical to it with the stock front pipe. The Q300 and catless front pipe is perfect for a DD in our opinion.

Couldn't get q300 align properly.

Need help guys, I installed the q300 on my car yesterday, but it just would align properly, the driver side tip is poking more than the passengers, some guys from the Facebook page also said their having the same problem, can someone please confirm if they can fit it properly evenly? I don't know what I did wrong but I've follow some advise to drive all day to break it in? I was told somehow the metal flexes after heat and the alignment changes automatically? So far I have not seen change after all day of driving, the driver side still poking out more. I've also tried adjust the rubber hanger and loose the clamp and twist and turn and tighten the clamp many time but still the same, not sure if this info helps but if I pushed the driver side in it will stay and looks perfect, but once driven it changes back to uneven, any ideas?

jimmillion 07-14-2014 03:12 AM

@Sleeper86 I just installed mine and have the same problem so don't worry you're not alone. From what I gather it's because the weight is all on the left side since that's where the bend to get around the diff is. I tried adjusting it and redoing the clamp a couple times but it still always slides back to that state. I have a feeling that adding a longer hanger on the left side rear might do the trick but have yet to try it. For now I just live with it.
