Over in my area, they'll set off fireworks for every holiday. Some grown man even set off fireworks for his birthday, not his child's, but his, during the middle of a very hot, dry, and fire-hazard warning day (and it was set above a field of dead and dry grass nearby houses).

Funny, (ironic really) that at the time this happened I was watching an episode of Mayday. It’s a Canadian TV series on real world aviation investigations. You may know the show by a different name. Anyway, this episode was about Flight 811. That’s the 747 that lost a cargo door in route to Auckland from Honolulu.
