There is is huge difference in quality from the average aftermarket core... But I am sure you are a heat exchanger specialist

Awesome car overall man. I like people who focus on the important parts of cars like handling

This is what the second time I've quoted this. Though I do want to apologize. I wasn't trying to berate you or your day job. Honestly I thought you were a bit of a "fanboi" or whatever. I read some of your stuff in the aero thread and should have known better, but probably due to my lack of attention, I didn't even realise I was arguing with the same person. I'll take the basis of my arguments to pm, where you can properly scold me on my ignorance.

*edit* eeek... I can't believe I forgot this one I also want to apologize to Robispec for mucking up his thread...

No because the thermostat in the cooling system regulates the amount of flow of the cooling medium.

We have a 180 degree water thermostat and the fluids are running 190/215 with 80% of the grill blocked on a 70 degree ambiant day

This was the whole point. Thank you for your well thought out comment.
Before we decided to get into this Cars development (car cost 25K we have dropped 20k into DIRECT development to date) I did some looking at the owners complaints about the cars shortcomings at the track. We made a list of these and other "must do" modifications. We are almost done with testing. Stay tuned !

I'm looking at these rims and you mention that your running spacers on the front, was this to increase your track width or to clear the brakes with these rims. I've seen the RPF 1's in a +35 but liked the idea of the +45 if would fit with out issues, I'm also looking at the Essex AP brake kit and wanted to get your thoughts. Great looking photos at Laguna.

for brake clearance. needed on the +35 too I assume.

iLuveKetchup 03-09-2013 01:56 AM

Did your steering feel change with less camber? Just curious.

robispec 03-09-2013 02:11 AM

no differance biggest change sofar has been increasing the antidive angles in the front lower control arm....

we are ready to go to market with these this week.
At Robispec we are fans of extra credit work and so we went to an "overkill cooling solution" stock radiator is 15mm core we replace this with 2 25mm tube core add a liquid to liquid oil cooler in the "cold side tank" and have less than 2 feet of total lines to complete the whole "kit".
The best thing about this is that you dont need to thermostaticly control the oil temp (a big potential problem with the Air to liquid cooler solutions) as the water thermostat does this for you and actually heats the oil faster during warm up then stabilizes it to run about 20-30 degrees hotter than the water temp. this is better in many ways than the current kits on the market.
1. lighter overall
2. short hose runs, minimal resistance to flow = no extra strain on the stock oil pump
3. "fixes" the Water cooling issues sure to develop with the stock radiator.
4. Uses existing cooling airflow and leaves fender locations for brake ducting
5. With low profile fans ADDS space in front of the engine for turbo/SC piping

here are the cores for comparison. BIG PROBLEM and no oil cooler included with the car either.
Even the A/C condensed is thicker than the Stock radiator!(3/4" vs 5/8 ")

here is the BEST solution...to the above problem

can use stock A/C with this.
NO cutting plastec to mount
Cold air over the top as needed
STOCK mounting points used
OVER TRIPLE THE COOLING CAPACITY and an extra Qt of engine oil.
takes 2 hours to install
total system cost Radiator oilcooler takeoff plates hoses, an fittings, fans
EVERYTHING INCLUDED for John Q Public to install $1,195.00

Look for the group buy to save money on the first ten of these.

Robi

1-How does one test fit to see if this will work with my vortech fmic?
2-curious, do you sell a rad minus the oil cooler bit?
3-do ya need a vortech fmic ginea pig-if it doesnt fit will you take it back etc??

robispec 03-28-2013 10:19 PM

1 test to see but it has more room than the stock radiator fro SC/turbo clearance...FMIC might need some "tweaking" but there is LOTS-O-ROOM for that...

2 yes

3yes but you would need to come to my shop. if we can get it working than it is yours...bundle it with the events on the 20/21 april...show everyone what you got !

Robi, I'm sure you know what youre doing so I dont think twice about this being a great option for me

How do you counsel someone between yours and say a koyorad-I see those for sale, any good?

Indeed, re Vortech, I want to show what I have but everything I have is in a 'test state', so I actually have to revert back to whats proven before I go to the track, as thats what needs to be track certified, not what is on my car and still in waaaaay BETA stage..

Right now, at my beta 10psi tune, I have no heat issues, but i can see that changing with more boost and the approaching warmer weather, so while I dont think I need this yet, it is not gonna hurt

That sounds like a fun plan, if you can PM me re costs for this minus the oil side-My oil temp management scheme seems to be working fine for me, for now, and its scalable, so I think I will be fine minus the integrated 2nd oil core

(I just spent a wad on my car and may need more time to catchup on them billz. ANd make it to Driving events...)

Indio isnt that far from PHX, where is your shop located-what town?
