Finally got a date

My dealer emailed me four times today, because he couldn't get a hold of me through my phone since i changed my number and hadn't told him yet. All the emails said something along the lines of "call me back!" or " CALL ME I GOT GOOD NEWS!" i already knew he was going to tell me i finally have an ETA after 6 months. I'm excited, but at the same time i am nervous. My main concerns of course is the ECU problems, and hoping that the dealer might try to pull some BS (though another member on here told me that they got their car from the same dealer, and they were legit) I know there are already some threads on here about advice on what to do, but i'm gonna go ahead and ask. Is there anything i should know? I am going to tell them not to clean the car because i will detail it myself. Also, has anyone gotten their mustache drilled? i'm not sure if i want the side mounted plates, can't decide if having holes or an unsymmetrical licenses plate is worst.

I forgot to mention my ETA is Dec. 14th.

Congratulations and here's my 2 cents.

1. The FR-S bumper/intake area comes with two dimples/depressions which tell you where to drill for the centre mounted plate brackets in case you change your mind about the side mounted plates. I dunno whether the BRZ has it but you should see it when you go to pick up the car.

Just make sure to get the plate brackets which your dealer should give you and throw it in the trunk.

2. Go over the PDI (post dealer inspection) checklist in your driver's manual and ask questions if any and make sure everything is checked off especially some dealers are forgetting to plug the side tie-down holes with the plugs that come in the glove box.

3. Whatever you want the dealership to do or not to do, get it IN WRITING. I cannot stress this enough. No detailing, no drilling, etc., get it in writing. Otherwise you have no room to negotiate

4. In case you haven't negotiated the final price, go to edmunds.com and spec a new BRZ with the options you are getting. Edmunds gives you the invoice and the MSRP prices so you know exactly what's your negotiating space.

Good luck and enjoy the car. It's a great decision.

Thanks! I see you have a brz with center plates. How did you feel about it being drilled into your mustache?

If only that worked for me. :( Get a nice fun car they said. It'll get you dates they said. :(

my problem is that the current gf (who will probably become more) doesn't really like cars, and doesn't even know how to drive a manual. only reason she'll really like the FRS is because the doors are lighter than the mini's (my mini's doors keep trying to eat her legs)

sorry for taking it off topic, OP. Grats on getting your date!

I found my car in NJ (was really particular about getting the gray color), so, it was already pre-drilled by the dealership by the time I found it. I agonized about it for a few days after buying, but, it doesn't really bother me now.

I don't need a front plate in MI, so, I will take the plate bracket off and probably plug the holes with bumperplugs when I get some time and find the right wrench.

Here are some pics after washing it a couple of days ago, and it immediately started raining as i was finishing waxing the last panel :mad0260: Car has been opticoated. Thinking about getting a clear bra, because i already see multiple rock chips after a week of owning it and it just :brokenheart: to see it.
