I wish they have both Jdm and US TRD exhausts tested as well...

RT87 11-21-2012 04:14 PM

Ahh I was hoping for the Invidia N1 and Q300 exhausts too.

Arent you surprise guys about how much power they did with those cheap muffler delete ?

I tought NA motor needed back pressure but it look like our flat 4 like freeflow better.

Its not the boxer engine, its proof that statement is a myth...

Gardus@Supersprint 11-22-2012 09:33 AM

For comparison: the stock euro-spec exhaust with 115mm endpipes weights 20 kg-> 44,1 lbs

RWD-boxer 11-22-2012 09:57 AM

Not surprised I did muffler delete and Dyno run first week I had the car and everyone got all high and mighty with there 1k exhaust. Lol who is better now lol

There is two or three restriction other then the muffler. Probably remove one more and still increase power I will have to go cut a catalytic converter off

I Wonder how a dual exit delete would compare?

Gardus@Supersprint 11-22-2012 10:49 AM

The problem with single exit exhausts, with longitudinal silencers, is that they'll probably drone a lot once fitted with a free-flowing front section (header and decat/sport cat)

nonicname 11-22-2012 11:31 AM

$1,600 for 8 pathetic WHP or
$150 for 8 pathetic WHP.

I'll go with $150

Gardus@Supersprint 11-22-2012 11:35 AM

We're going OT, anyway, you must consider we're looking at tests on very different dynos.
Muffler delete on our dyno, as well as axleback and catback, didn't give any gain to think of.
Wait for independent test of our system on other dynos for a comparison.

Not everyone prefers the crap sound of a muffler delete. Muffler deletes arent for everyone. If everyone bought there exhausts just for the performance then you would see everyone doing what you did. But people also prefer to not sound like shit.

And to some people 1 grand isnt a lot to them. Especially when people who buy this car ussually are some punk kids who make minamum wage and need to save every penny they can. Most people who own this car are adults who have money. Your not going to see a lot of kids with a brand new 27k car and thats before taxes, delivery fee, registration and all the other fees you get for buying a car which basically makes this car almost 30 grand.

You will start seeing people younger drive these cars in like 5-10 years but right now this car will majority be owned by people probably from mid to late 20s or even some college grads.. Not people who have to go to a muffler shop and make a shitty muffler w/ drone or a muffler delete because they cant afford something better.

Longitudinal silencers? English please?

Is that another word for a resonator? So if we get a Perrin Catback w/ resonator will their be a higher chance of drone if we get headers also? I am sure Perrin will try n minamize the drone but if what you say can go for dual exits would it be better to get it without a resonator to be on the safe side?

I was planning on getting the Resonated Perrin Catback but after fter seeing the dynos on this I might get the unresonated version. I saw on youtube an unresonated Header back and it was pretty loud. I prefer a quieter exhuast but the gains on the unresonated were a big difference compared to the resonated version. I am only worried that if they release a Header that it could be too loud if I add that also.

A longitudinal silencer is any type of sound suppression that runs the length of the car (ex. mid pipe resonator or hks hipower mufflers), as opposed to perpendicular to the length of the car (ex. oem muffler or perrin). Longitudinal is always louder since a portion of the sound wave will travel directly down the silencer without meeting up with any sound absorption material. By contrast if airflow has to change direction inside the silencer (ex. perrin), the sound will be met with sound absorption material as it tries to continue travelling in a straight path.
