Reverse to First tricky

After backing, I sometimes find it a little tricky to find first gear. Anyone find a foolproof method? Or am I the only one having this problem?

Put it in 2nd gear and then 1st.. works every time. This also works if you can't get it into reverse.

This is what I used to do with all the other MT cars I had before. It's faster to do this than releasing the clutch and pressing it again. Every MT car had trouble putting the gear into 1st or reverse once in a while (multiple times a day). But somehow, my FR-S never did this. I had this car for 5 1/2 months and never had to do it. I guess I got lucky this time. :)

I have never had any problems going from reverse to first.

From reverse to a forward gear, I always put it into neutral, clutch out, clutch in and shift into first, then go about regularly. Always worked for me when reverse is a little hard getting into on my older cars. It avoids the dreaded crunch when you have to force the gear in. Save your gear by clutching twice.

With the clutch in just move to neutral then back to first. Works good for me.

I dont have much trouble with it, I just pull it from the R down to the D, and try not to get it over into the M. LOL, and what is that clutch thing you guys are talking about?
