Decisions !!!!

aohfsdlkgflksdjgkljglkjsdflgkj!!!

ive been scouring the web for wheels. everytime i feel like ive made a choice i look on the list again and go damnit now i want those!!!!

so far ive been interested in bronze/gold wheels. and my choices are as followed

Rota SDX

Rota Grid

Enkie RPF1

i want to keep the 17 inch wheel size and i see they are going to range from .5-1 inch wider which is no problem as long as i need no spacers which im not sure of being that i havent looked up what is acceptable and not acceptable for clearances yet. also would like to stick with a 215 or 225 size tire on them. :D

just want some input what looks good in person if anyone has photos of them on the cars in the bronze or gold set up. i like the price of Rotas and Enkies. my other chice if i ever stole some bags of 100$ bills would be Work Miester S1R ughh soo hot. lol

anyway just wanted some input and stuff from the Wheel Gurus

do you plan to upgrade your brakes in the future? it might influence your choice.

225/45r17 on 17x8 +35 offset would be my size recommendation, have you thought about the OZ ultraleggera? I think they look good in gold not sure of offsets available though.

Here is another lightweight wheel that looks like the RPF1. $195 per @ 14.6lbs according to tire rack. kosei k1 TS

Yeah i want to eventually do the 04 sti front calipers. and i think it was 08 rears that fit? i know they can fit under a 17inch wheel but im not sure if the offset is going to have to be more aggressive to fit the caliper increase.

i really like the Rota SDX in Bronze a lot. i would like something with a slight dish and not to many spokes, dealt with multi spoke a lot PIA to keep clean lol

i did look at it but its not my style that im looking for. so question if the wheel is 17x8 id need to get a more aggressive offset? to compensate for the extra inch id have to change the offset by -10? or +1- isnt stock 17x7 +45? im still trying to learn offset to rim width compensation.

its nice but im still looking for that pop at me must have me wheel i really like the style of the Rota SDX or Grid in Bronze. ughh too many choices. this is my problem lol

The Rotas will likely save you some money versus the Enkeis. The stigma around Rota wheels and their "copy-cat" status is inconsequential to me.

Also, i have a question which i didn't want to make a brand new thread for-- What is the smallest diameter wheel that will fit over the stock calipers?

fender9530 11-25-2012 01:17 PM

I like the Grids but compared to the RPF1s, they are heavy. What is your goal for the car? Are the wheels just for looks, or do you plan to track/autox?

i want a little of both more towards track though but i want something clean easy to clean and looks nice i would like a te37 rep it doesnt have to be super light but the lighter the better idk might get grids how much do grids weigh? stock wheels are roughly 20 pounds right?

There is a new rota that is a weds tc105 copy, I'm pretty sure the ones I saw were bronze in a blue car if I wasn't on my phone I'd find it for you but it looks good.

chutrain 12-18-2012 12:23 AM

If the RPF-1 are in your price range, I would go with those. They are lighter and they should be a much better wheel all around.

New rota Titan looks great

IMHO both the Grids and the RPF1's have been overdone on this platform already, although if that doesn't matter to you I've seen a WRB BRZ with black RPF1's that looked awesome! They're also available in a cool dark chrome :)
