Well a hood prop rod is lighter, but I agree, the struts/dampers are much nicer to deal with on a continuous basis. Glad you finally got your set!

It only took so long because I was lazy about getting them. Haha.

So, I finally got my Grimmspeed hood struts, and I must say that it is my favorite practicality mod, with my weather tech floor mats being second.

Why doesn't this come this way from the factory?!

I don't like that the brackets are so heavy, so if @GrimmSpeed would be alright with it, I would like got have a set cut and formed out of 5052 aluminum

Great to hear! If you're interested in making your own set in aluminum, by all means, give it a shot.

We opted not to use aluminum in favor of steel for a number of reasons. For people looking to shave ounces, the cheaper/lesser hood struts might be a better choice. Personally, I'd stick with the prop rod and just leave it out of the car when not in use, if that were the case. Mild steel was selected to ensure that the parts would outlast the car.

Next time you've got your eye on something from GS, give me a call. I'd love to get my hands on a diffuser for our shop car.

It's untested, but I can only assume it would work just fine. I would just put the radium bracket on top of our bracket. I'm thinking all holes will line up again fine, despite the slight height change, but you might end up having to slot a bolt hole, but it is extremely unlikely.

Are these hood struts compatible with the Radium catch can setup?

Notice the mounting points in the photos here:

Yup, they fit together just fine. A lot of people have this exact setup, so I can now confirm they will work fine together.
