A dark horse that I need to find out about is that Fujitsubo Authorize RM. It's single exit and light. BUT. It may be very expensive. I would still like to hear it!!!

After lots of research since I don't have my FR-S yet, I've decided to go with SRT then get a Borla header most likely. The SRT from the front to back looks outstanding with flow, sounds great, and lots of time was put into it. Borla's header is very nice as well. Hopefully, I won't get a terrible sound once I swap to the header on the SRT.

It is almost like the Evo3 is two different exhausts when the silencers were in and when they were removed. I don't recommend taking the silencers out. I do recommend the Evo3 if you like the deeper tone and most increased performance than the other exhausts. When it is matched with the Greddy intake, it is even better in performance and sound.

I too have the AFE/GReddy intake along with my Evo 3. I have an ECUTek tune tweaked for my car, so I don't think I'm seeing the leaning that you're seeing without the silencers. That all being said, I'm going to swap it out with a Perrin, as I got a good deal on one with the Black Friday sale. Love the sound of the Evo 3, love the performance, but the drone is something that I'm sensitive to and it makes me nauseous (I also get carsick / motionsick real easily, so maybe that's related).

I purchased the Borla Catback part #: 140496 for $690 on Amazon. I used their storecard which gave me 12 months no interest if paid in full at 12 months or before and $10off. $57.50 a month :burnrubber:

On the Borla website it is $890 :happyanim:

if you are going to get a header look for a proper collector. JDL so far has the right idea, borla's looks kind of like a AP header and if it is the same design then its not going to make much power. you will be loud with a header and the SRT header back, over 100db for sure.

JDL is making a UEL I hear?

Yeah, I might wait on the header a bit. They're still slowly coming on with the R&D on those and Borla is really the only one I've researched. Wondering if someone will offer a high flow catted header at some point? That tends to tame down some of those extremely loud WOT's with rasp without suffering a hit for using a cat.

The loudness I can take, but it has to be a refined loud to me. If I start hearing the rice fly around in the coffee can, then we have a problem.

As far as flow is concerned, I'm not convinced with those crossflow muffler applications but I figure the most important part is going to be from header to mid, not so much the back end of the axle.

I'm coming from a V8 to the boxer engine so this will be a new experience for me. I'll continue to keep researching. :)

Off topic but Fujitsubo also has some headers out. Super EX Basic. I would assume that they are very high quality.

Equal and unequal length. I'm going equal length un-catted with a HFC front pipe. Seems that the over pipe is the biggest restriction in our exhaust though.

Invidia N1 sounds real nice as well. I think it'll sound even better with a header/over/front pipe. Just kinda ricey looking to me though

agreed, i have the AP catback and i want something more of a DD especially because im looking at the AVO turbo kit and with catless headers... you need to start with a reasonably "quiet" exhaust cuz its going to be LOUD! i dont like the look of the N1 i do really like the look of the perrin and Q300.
i just need a new exhaust cuz the drone on my AP is killing me and everyone in my neighborhood lol

Turbos are the ultimate exhaust deadner. A loud exhaust on n/a will be quieter on a turbo car.

Very true
