Noob Air Filter Question
This question is embarrassing, but I'd rather out myself as a noob than risk doing any damage to my car. I recently purchased a Perrin drop in air filter and can't figure out which direction it should be facing when I put it in? I assume the logo side faces toward the cabin of the car but again I'm not sure and not taking any chances. Thanks.

I think this was discussed somewhere else and they said the logo goes towards the front of the car. Search the forum.

Pretty sure the logo should face the front since that's what they use to let you know if it needs cleaned.

Thanks guys, just got confirmation from Perrin, you guys are indeed correct, logo faces out. I searched the forums and the interwebs before posting, sorry if it's a repost.

How's the filter? Do you notice any change?
|
I'll install it tonight and let you know how it feels tomorrow.

Why don't they include a diagram showing how it goes in? :bonk:

Installed it tonight but noticed that when I closed it I noticed that it kind of squishes out around the edges. Everything seems to be clicked into place, just making sure this is normal. Attachment 20889

Anyone with the Perrin filter out there notice this?
|
I think its supposed to be that way, as long as the airbox as sealed all the way around it should be fine. Make sure to check along the bottom of the box.

Yeah it looks sealed. In fact it looks more air tight that way. The box and latches all seem tight and secure.
I installed it and drove with it or 50 miles this morning. I didn't notice much difference, I have a Berk muffler delete on and it didn't really effect the exhaust note but I did notice a slighting shushing noise above 4k rpm. The sound is similar to having the AC on low or someone shhhhhhhing you. It sounds clean and the engine REALLY seems to come alive between there and redline, I mean it really puts you back in the seat! I love the set up I have on it now but am considering installing an exhaust silencer just to detract from any unwanted attention from the fuzz. |
That's installed correctly
