Alabama SCCA autocross at Barber Motorsports Park 11/17-18...

This will be set up in the paddock and WILL NOT GIVE YOU ACCESS TO THE ROAD COURSE AT ANY TIME. Having said that, in all caps LOL, you will have a great time if you make it out to this event. Last year we drove until we really didn't want to drive any more on both days!

The autocross will open to NON Porsche BMW Owners Club drivers at 9:00am on both Saturday and Sunday. The autox will be both days. We will do $1 per run. Or $5 for 7 runs. Or $10 for 20. Or $20 for unlimited runs. We will also be taking donations to support Cancer Research at UAB, which is the PBOC charity for their event. All donations will need to be cash or check.

The schedule is fairly liquid, and may be changed without notice. The PBOC drivers will have priority to the course as it is their event. However, those of you that attended last year can attest, the event is a boat load of fun. You will have the time to run as much as you want, make changes, then run again as much as you want. It really is a very good time.

This sounds fun! Love to meet some car people in this town. Never autocrossed before. May check this out. Is there anything else we should know? Anything required? I have a Whiteout FR-S and a friend was wanting to bring his new Jetta. Thanks in advance for any more info.

I usually thought SCCA AutoXs were held at the theater parking lot in Birmingham...? Right?

Don't own a helmet, but if arrangements can be made I'd love to go out to this. (complete novice btw)

I may try to make this event. Sounds more fun that cruising Little River Canyon this weekend and besides, its for charity!

If you don't own a helmet, its cool. We have loaners. If this is your first autocross. No big deal. We have a ton of people that have been doing this for a long time. We will show the ropes and even ride with you and let you ride with us to help get you up to speed. Hope to see you guys at the track on either day.

Oh, when you get to the gate let them know you are there for the PBOC (Porsche BMW Owners Club) event. If that doesn't work, go with SCCA autocross. Or, go with both.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to shoot for Saturday. Look forward to meeting some of you.

Supralove they are normally at the Verizon Amphitheatre lot. This one is a tad different. We set up in the Paddock at Barber Motorsports Park and use it as a novice training module for the PBOC event and a means to raise some money for charity the rest of the day. In short, You Can't believe how much fun this weekend is!

Spd229 11-15-2012 11:31 PM

Sounds cool. Probably try for saturday.

Thanks for the info.

The course for tomorrows PBOC autocross at Barber Motorsports Park is set. It's also quite a bit of fun! It is Kilgore, Cholewa, Vagner and Yoder approved! Hope to see some folks from around here make it out to Barber over the weekend. The course is a mid 30 to high 20 second layout. It flows well and provides plenty of oppotunity to improve all of the skills it takes to run mach 4 through the cones. This is more of a test and tune than anything and as such it is a non points just for fun event. $20 = RUN ALL DAY! Come hang out and destroy some tires with us!

Spd229 11-17-2012 01:42 PM

Won't make it today, was hoping I'd be over my cold or whatever I've had. Hoping tomorrow I'll get to go.

Still sounds like a blast.

We have two whiteout FRS today and tomorrow I think there will be a red one on track. Course is actually a ton of fun.
