Looks like it could be pretty awesome, no word on release date or cost though :/

(Sorry if this has been posted previously)

Ah so it has been spoken about before, my bad! Hmmm it says it should have gone on sale at the end of October for $599, but the actual parrot website still doesn't have a price or availability listed for it :/ I wonder which head unit 2forme was talking about? Any idea?

The only thing I don't like about it is the lack of dedicated audio controls. Changing the volume/skipping a track would be a pain in a rush (say your passenger gets a phone call). This is closer to having an actual tablet in the dash as opposed to a radio head unit.

Depending on how they price it, I may grab one to check it out.

Hmmm, if those swipe controls for volume can be used out of the music app it might be pretty good, not sure if they would be able to though as it would interfere with app navigation I would imagine

Ca-Fi has a 6.2" Gingerbread head unit with a capacitive touch screen. I actually just bought a chinese "copy" of the ca-fi unit for 400$. It doesn't have capacitive touch or Ca-Fi apps, but the hardware is the same. I'm going to see if I can get the Ca-Fi apps on it or get Torque working.

Hmmm whats the Ca-Fi app store like? Is it farily well rounded? A good selection of apps? Would definately be a plus for Torque! Will be interesting to see how you go!

When I said Ca-Fi apps, I meant things like Music, Radio, File Manager, etc. It uses the Google Play store for apps.

Yea, I definitely like using Torque in my head unit on the BRZ. Bonus that it uses the USB interface which polls MUCH faster than bluetooth.

I would love something like this but what about the audio section? It needs 24bit Burr Brown or suitable DSPs, lower jitter, strong signal output, and low SNR before I'll think about it. I haven't found a double din yet that is suitable for high end audio.

You're not going to find that at this price point LOL. I don't even want to think about what a manufacturer would charge for a decent Android head unit with competition level audio components. The Ca-Fi unit does have 5 volt pre outs.

Let us know if you find one!

I just got it today. I'll be throwing it in this week and letting everyone know how it compares.
