FR-S turbo auto already sold GTA

Stumbled upon a Trader ad from Towne & Country BMW offering a Raven auto w/300 hp turbo. Said only 4000 km! Dropped in at lunch and apparently it's sold and I didn't see it there.

I prolly would have bought it but congrats whoever did!

I saw this on kijiji. I wonder what type or if there is a warranty being sold with the car?

wbradley 11-12-2012 02:33 PM

My guess is that Toyota could deny most all warranty claims once the turbo is installed.

So, basically it was sold without warranty.

Reminds me of a cooworker who bought a 2006 STI brand new and proceeded to dump enough $ into it to get it to 500 HP. He then decided that after 2 years or so the tranny was probably ready to crumble so he traded it for a new 2008 335i.

I think someone made a real score here if everything was intact.

Powertrain warranty is likely out the window. Stuff like power window motors and all the rest should be fine still. Basically, they have to prove that your modifications caused the issue to deny your claim, so if a turbo has nothing to do with it, the OEM warranty should cover it.

For those curious, he got a 2013 335i.

Doubt it,

Kit was 5K USD, and he drove it down there, lol.

That's a ton of $ spent on the car!

Maybe he got bored of it :iono:

I was just kidding around ;) I've owned much more expensive cars than the BRZ (and no I didn't get demoted at work lol).

You're right, he probably got bored and wanted a change (car ADD...I know it, I have it, I love it) :D

Figure ~$30k for the stock car with taxes, $5k for the kit, and $5k in expenses to get it there, tuned and home, that's about $40k total. 335's start at $54k, so it's still quite a bump in price.

wbradley 11-13-2012 07:58 PM

The car would have been approx. over $33K out the door. He spent $7k on the turbo and tune, exhaust and tint.

The dealer was asking $27k I think. I thought they could have asked up to $32 k to test the water. That it sold so fast without a warranty is proof.

Obviously this is a bit extreme case of ADD. Especially after 10 hours driving for a weekend installing the turbo. It amazes me but then again some people have the finances available and it's there for whatever makes them happy.

I would have taken the turbo and sold my 6 spd so the wife could drive it too. After taxes and all probably just better to take a drive to Ohio and get my car done. I gotta see what the finances bring for springtime.
