Should I put my muffler on for service
So, i have about 1300 miles on my car and i have a cel and the traction light on the dash is always on. I did have an idle issue a while back but it was only once and it went away. Idle is fine. But i got this cel this weekend. I have a berk muffler delete dual tip. Should i put the original muffler on before i take it in to the deal for the cel?

That might depend on how heavily the dealer has to document the vehicle before/after the repair for warranty purposes. Have you serviced with the dealer before (previous car/issue) would they give you an opportunity to pop it back on rather than document adversely? or are they the type that'll be quick to throw you under the bus for aftermarket parts?
i have no experience at all with them, so not sure.
it won't take long to put the muffler back and could save you a lot. Go ahead and do it. Better safe than sorry.
yea, you're probably right. i'll throw it back on.
Yes, do it or get your warrenty void.
exhaust wont void your warranty, I wouldn't worry about it, as long as there is a pipe that extends from the cats all the way to the end of the car, you are fine
great, now i don't know what to do....

That way, if they're OK with it and your current dealership is not, you can always take it to the one that didn't care. |
A muffler would never cause an issue with the issues youre having. I wouldnt worry about it besides the fact that they will look for abuse.

i serviced my car and got the idle chirp taken care of w/ my perrin headerback on and all they did was compliment it. didnt do a thing to my warranty

A muffler might not void warranty, but the dealer will insist it may have something to do with the CEL.Don't give them any excuses.they can and will be d*cks like that in some service depts.

If your dealer is that knit picky on warranty claims its time to go to a new dealer.
Because it's a well known problem, they won't say anything about the exhaust to fix the CEL/TC light issue. They have to prove that aftermarket parts caused the broken part. In the future is you have a unknown problem they might, but if they do, just go to a different dealership.
