Need Help: Registering a car in CA

Hi guys. I plan to buy a car from out of state, which is from Texas. What I got confuse is that the car previously was titled in California but bought by a dealer in Texas. I used to buy a car out of state that registered on the same state but never know about this case. Should I do the exact same thing just like the car titled out of CA? or is there any differences?

Really need your help guys. Appreciate any comments and opinions. Share your experience. Thanks

I don't think you would have to do the smog portion as you are just bringing back a California smog exempt vehicle back into the state.

The car will need to be smogged.. Check out PMok's thread for details on what the CO>CA Cartel did to get registered..

But the car should already have a CARB sticker on it. The reason you need to smog an out of state car is because federal exemptions are not as stringent as California regulations. Or at least the used to not be.

Your best bet here is to have the dealer email you pics of all the stickers found under the hood. You're looking for California exempt... If the car is from out of state originally than you still have to get the smog done again.
