Supercharged GT86 by Novidem
3 Attachment(s)
I went to the Zürich Autoshow today, and Novidem showed off their new Project, a Supercharged GT86.
Specs are 280hp, 300nm, thats what they call Stage 1, Stage two with more than 300hp is in development. Price is not set at the moment Some pictures below |
Looks a lot more complex than the Vortech or Innovate setups, be interesting to see what it's capable of.
|
Not all that clean of a setup, but will be cool to see how it performs.
|
Yeah not liking the setup as well but nice to see one more kit
|
actually thats perfect as it can all be hidden under an engine cover.
|
Rotrex blower?
Looks cleaner than the HKS setup. |
Hmmm, need better detailed pictures of the intake manifold. From here it looks like it could be an aerodynamic mess. I'm also not thrilled with the lack of an intercooler. It is interesting to see a clutched s/c drive.

But yea no intercooler :/ |
That sure is interesting
A clutched centrifugal charger of unknown brand - at least at this stage. Never seen anything like it. I wonder if its clutched above a certain RPM threshold OR if just a manual switch on dash, the frequency of the clutching will be interesting too and whether it can be clutched in on a pressure signal above 5500rpm. Will be a dog to tune and a dog to drive, you cant have the AFM that far away from the TB in a centrifugal system and actually have it do everything properly Alternator got a new home in a reverse mount position - weird enough, would be almost the hardest to fit system yet that we have seen for the 86, even the TC kits would be nearly easier No visible BOV, and there cant be unless its dumped back into intake between AFM and SC intake. With no BOV compressor can run very hot and tend toward detonation far easier. The manifold, hmm, made from mild steel or reversed stocker or ?? No intercooler??? Amateurs?? You would hardly think so being a Swiss High Performance company .......... but that is poor form in my view Innovative charger which I guess in manufactured by Novidem .......... the rest is bleccchhhhhhhhhh Top marks for having a go -- bring me something else tho if for own car |
Now that is the layout im liking, not the SC but the movement of the alternator and having the space to the left :)
Its a mess only because its slapped on parts. Now if you look into a kit that has specifically made parts the intergration will look much cleaner. |
I'm curious where they got the cast piece that runs between the SC output and the TB.
Being so used to seeing older Subarus, I didn't even catch the reversed throttle body location on first glance. This combined with the slapped on plenum and the lack of intercooling are major bummers in my opinion. Nathan |
Didnt expect that much interesst in this, otherwise I'd taken 5mins or so to talk to the salesguy to get some more infos.
Novidem itself is well known around here, and they have made some quiet impressive work http://www.novidem.ch/ However, I know them from my former car, a Nissan 350z, for which they've also made superchargers. As far as you could tell from the feedback of Novidem 350z owners, there is quiet some "dispute" around if their work is proper or not. The 350z Supercharger is about 16000 USD, (adds about 100hp to the car) and some owners complaint after having the kit owned some years that the parts used are not as good in quality as you would expect for that price. Also, the missing intercooler was also mentioned before on the 350z. I guess the supercharger will be switched on by a switch on the dash, thats at least how they've done it on the 350z superchargers. My personal guess is that novidem focuses more on the more expensive cars (Audi R8, GTR, Porsche) and do rather "rush" some superchargers out for the more cheap, yet popular sports cars, even though they may not be as good in quality as the other stuff they are well known for. |
300hp without intercooling... doubtful... ?

I've also run blow-through setups as well, and know the caveats of each setup. This setup needs a bit of work to be what most really want. But it is a good start. |
