I had my taillights and fuel pump (just today actually) replaced since owning this car with no problems. So far I can tell a big difference in sound, the pump is much much quieter.

I have a couple things I'm not sure about...And my dealer has told me if they can't find a TSB or see/hear the problem they can't fix it. I have the window marks on the driver side window and they won't fix it because there's no TSB! So if you have these problems and know if there's a TSB or how to get it fixed let me know!! :)

- Rattles OCCASIONALLY when shifter is in Neutral. Example, if I'm coming to a red light I put it in neutral and glide to the light and sometimes the rattling noise happens. I can't ever get it recorded or mock it for the dealer, but I just got this video from the "Flywheel Rattle" thread http://s421.photobucket.com/user/whs..._1331.mp4.html

- I just got my first oil change, and after a day the car started getting harder to shift. I never had to push the clutch all the way to the floor. Now I have to, mainly 1st-3rd gear. When I go into 1st it feels like it wants to go into reverse and gets a grindy feeling when I shift. I think they topped off all my fluids, not sure if that would have anything to do with it but I only have 6,300 miles and got the car in July '13. Someone told me they shouldn't have topped off all the fluids.

- "Clutch Engagement" issue - I watched the videos and I have the same clicking noise in this video that was posted http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11266.

Anyways, anybody else have/had these issues?

That's because they didn't replace the ECU. I had the same issue.

Tapped from my Note 2

No issue for me regarding the clutch, but my window does have a scratch on the passenger side. Supposedly this is a common occurrence with certain subarus. I saw somewher that you can use toothpaste on the scratched glass. ??? Now I'm not sure how that works, but I'll leave the search and find up to you if you're interested.

Also there was a thread I saw on a subaru forum regarding the use of faux fur on the glider pads that hold the window in place.

I haven't done this yet personally, but I will try to cover over the old pads with some felt when I get a chance.

There's a thread in this forum somewhere regarding the scratched window, I think its filed under "squeaking window" or something like that. It might be helpful for you. Good luck .

Toothpaste is a very fine polish - you'd be buffing the scratch out with toothpaste essentially.

Hmm.. I might attempt doing something like that. If you don't mind me asking, what'd you do for your scratched window?

Tooth paste is also a good way to get slight amounts of rust blemish off of high carbon steel knife blades.

Left it alone. It doesn't bother me and I doubt it'll get replaced under warranty.

Does anyone have access to Subaru technical information system to retrieve following TSB?:

Service Bulletin # 02-136-12R
Pages: 4

Bulletin Description: The purpose of this Bulletin is to provide procedures for the diagnosis and repair of oil seepage which may be coming from the timing chain cover, front camshaft cap, camshaft carrier and / or upper oil pan.

My car has an oil leak that seems to come from the camshaft carrier and I'm really curious to see the instructions to fix this problem.

I just got a ECM update for my brz's idle...they didn't provide a TSB for it. But they explicitly stated on my paper work. Did anyone else get a similar update?

I brought my car in, along with an oil change, citing the rough idle issue. The resolution was a ECM re-flash. So I wonder if it's the same thing. The FR-S has a TSB for it, but oddly, not the BRZ.

notout86 02-28-2014 07:17 PM

Thx for this TSB list.

I have recently learned that it is possible to have a dealer-change made to cause the recirc of the climate control system to stay off or on as you last had it. At present recirc has something of a mind of its own, coming on at seemingly random times. This has nothing to do with having the auto on or off either.

Can we see a TSB for this please? The car changed was a Toyota86 Australia.

Just for the record, the TSB claims a countermeasure was put in place with VIN D*601678, May 2012.

My car was manufactured Feb 2013, VIN -607120, and just started having condensation/water in the taillight assembly.

Will get this fixed soon, but letting others know it is not limited to those affect VIN ranges.

I think subaru has a TSB for it. It's just no one has posted here yet.

Have an automatic and my transmission jerked when i went from 6th to 5th around 60mph. they updated the ECM lol. not related to the transmission but it did fix the idle issue

neil125 03-05-2014 05:05 PM

Dealer in Watertown, CT just called and said they couldn't duplicate the issues (chirp and freezing windows). I understand the window once since its not freezing rain right now. But the chirp, thats pretty obvious they didn't even take 2 minutes to check. They had it since 9am and now its 4pm. I am going there and sitting in the car until it starts chirping to show them. It's all pretty frustrating. Although they did replace the taillights for condensation last fall.

Jertronic 03-05-2014 06:29 PM

You have to ask them to come with you on a test drive. Have it running and park next to a building wall and the sound will echo off the building and be obvious to the tech or service rep.

I picked the car up, drove around a little bit and brought it back and parked in the service drop-off garage. He couldn't deny hearing it then. (They drove it 3.2 miles after I dropped it off)

But of course he spewed more BS about toyota not having a fix or new parts for it. He said he could put me on the list to talk to the toyota rep but "he only comes to the dealer once a month". Sounds like a bunch of bull to me.

Are the listed TSB #s for the BRZ only suitable for the USA? Are they applicable for Canadian BRZs and the Canadian Subaru dealers or will Subaru Canada have different TSB #s. I phoned my dealer and asked about some of the issues and TSBs. I asked about the manual transmission cold shifting issues and the odd gear grind into 2nd. The service person I talked to acted like he never heard of any of the issues.
Reminds me of my dealings with Hyundai dealers regarding my Genesis Coupe's manual transmission issues and the USA TSB for it that the Canadian dealers tried to pretend didn't exist.
Many thanks to all involved who post all the TSB #'s for the BRZ and FRS. This forum is a great source of info.

I was supposed to meet with the factory rep today about the chirping and an hour before I get a call from the dealer. they said they ordered the parts because the factory rep knows about the issue. should be a few days for them to come in.
I'm hoping Rev2 fixes the issues.

Did you ever get that fixed? I actually just dropped off my BRZ to Subaru in Livermore, CA and the guy said that the foreman said the chirping noise is normal and that since it wasn't ABNORMAL, there's no need to change out the fuel pump, etc.

Also, anyone have any clunky shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear? I researched the forums and stuff but can't figure out what to do. It's rough shifting into 3rd unless I pause for a second before shifting. :(

Bought the car in January this year and have been so frustrated with the chirping, shifting, "rough idle" issues.. not a way to enjoy a new car.

Bobblehead 04-22-2014 10:31 PM

I've got the chirp and the weird dippy idle when the A/C is on. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow to try and see if they can do anything yet.

Jertronic 04-23-2014 10:38 AM

I have a slight idle dip with the A/C on and it's rather minor. My shifts (Manual Trans) clunks between shifts in low gears sometimes.

The clunky shifts are more of an issue. Would be nice if there were an adjustment that could be made.

Hey Jertronic,
Im sure I have read on a couple of posts in the Assie forums about the same issue and im pretty sure they adjusted a rod in the clutch system to give the clutch a bit more clearance when disengaged, I believe it helps? worth a look at..

No different tsbs and it takes longer for us to get them than the states for some reason, says my dealer.

Considering the difficult shifting only occurs until the tranny is warmed up, no.

It's still rough after warmup but not impossible

Change the oil in the gearbox and differential. Seems to cure the issue.
