we have a White ST on order
I dug the torque of the ms3 but the torque steer is poor
GTI is far better driving but felt like old technology, and I've had VWs before

fast forward- a euro spec fuckus for sale in NA?(ford is going global spec, there is no difference for motor spec etc for usa)

I really enjoyed the NA focus, and suspect the turbo 270hp ticket will be a great lil commuter, to ease wasted commute miles on the brz. the icing on the cake is outta the box 270hp, recaros, a pretty solid build-lots of german parts under the hood!- and same price as the brz

For that kind of money, I'd probably just get a WRX. I'm just not a fan of FWD.

Was looking at these. The GTI is the nicest inside, but it's the slowest. The MS3 is the most fun, imo, but it's very ugly. The ST gets great mileage and is peppy, plus it handles well, but it's very tight inside and wasn't all that fun to drive. just my impressions.

What about the Mini Cooper S?

GTI, but I may be biased :D

Honestly it's just a well-rounded hot hatch, great as a daily driver IMO.

- Looks good
- Audi-quality interior
- Good seats
- Plenty of low-end torque, great for city driving
- Excellent dual clutch (DSG) transmission
- Sporty suspension tuning
- Good gas mileage
- Lots of practical space, including comfortable rear seats
- Usable tech (active xenons, XDS, bluetooth, navi, moonroof)

Might not be the "hottest" hatch, but I can't really think of any flaws using it as a daily driver. Also has plenty of aftermarket support if you want to spice it up a bit.

I'm throwing a monkey into this wrench..
Wait, that's not quite right.

Anyway, Abarth 500.

Buddy of mine already has >1k miles on his. He had to ditch his preorder of ST3 trim and go with ST2 on the lot.

I remember Top Gear being impressed with the Euro version of the Focus ST. The styling isn't too bad either, IMO. I think the GTI is the most refined, and probably the smoothest ride, but if I bought one, I would pony up the extra doe for the R32. I do like the MS3, I was looking at getting one last summer before I decided to stick to 2 doors. I personally love the front end of the MS3.

It's not an R32 anymore, it's a Golf R. And it's $34,000. For 250 hp. In an AWD car that weighs 3300 lbs split 60/40.

That's a great fun daily driver, but the price of entry is a bit steep for what you get.

Either way, if I got a VW, I would pay the extra coin for that. I'm sure with exhaust, a chip, and a tune, it would be over 300bhp. BTW, I don't think I would ever buy a VW.

My brother DD's an R. It's a great little car. Once he's through warranty, he's going to chip it.
