Collectors Edition FR-S

So I have looked around and either I'm missing this completely or this guy is full of shit. I'm thinking more of the second one. Toyota of Plano Texas has a Hot Lava FR-S that was the GM's. It is a used car not New.
and I quote:

Well, I know more about our Hot Lava FR-S.

It its one of the original first special 86 FR-S’s made. As a result it is a collectors edition. The sales price is $30k.

Let me know.

Thanks,
David

If he could confirm the authenticity of it being the first 86... then i guess you could... in a way... consider it a collectors edition.

Not worth the 30k tag simply because there is nothing special about it. But i suppose if you had the money to blow, and you are a collector of sorts it would be worth it

86_ZN6 11-08-2012 02:21 AM

hotlava is 7% of the first 86 cars

so their should be 6 hotlavas

He isn't claiming it was the first 86 just one of the first 86 out of the factory. Ill be getting a hold of them later today to find out more details, and I will ask for proof of this claim.

If it's a Scion and came to the US, its not one of the first 86 out of the factory. It was for sale in Japan well before it got to the US. Unless it is serial number 1 or serial number last, the build order really doesn't justify a bumped up price.

Go find a new one and pay less.

I would be very careful what this dealership tells you. I had put a deposit down with this dealership and they kept telling me it was going to be a 2 month wait. Even after the first 2 months they said I was going to have to keep waiting. They acted very suspicious like they were trying to hide something. I don't know if they still have the used black FR-S there but they wanted 300 over the sticker price for it and it had been in a accident. I would go to Toyota of McKinney. They treated me very well and were very honest about how long I would have to wait for my car.

I perfectly recall seeing this Hot Lava FR-S mentioned of within the opening post (Toyota of Plano). It was in the showroom floor, and my salesman over there treated my request of opening it up and seeing it in person as absurd and abnormal, although he managed to pull it off for me. There are some additional reasons of why I was convinced to take my order elsewhere, but I'll save myself the energy this time around.

$30k for this pre-owned Hot Lava FR-S is amusing at best.

I was one of the First 86 and I can tell you, there's nothing different about the car at all. BUT, I'll sell it to you for...ummm...$29,900.00!!! Ha, just kidding (sort of). I'll sell anything for a profit! But as far as salesmen go, I wouldn't believe 90% of what they say. Although my dealership treated me very well, they didn't know anything about the car when the First 86 winners were announced. I knew more about the car than they did.

1st 86 owner chiming in. It isn't worth diddly, our cars are no different then others except they gave us lots of promo items.

Good lord, that place is a rip off. Seriously, they tried to screw with me when I was looking for one, and yes, the GM had a red one. According to the sales guy, he also drove the living crap out of it. DONT BUY IT MAN!

Yeah, it would be like buying a former rental car. I think we all know how rental cars are driven! If there are any car salesmen on this site, I apologize in advance. But in my vast experience in purchasing cars (and there have been many), car salesmen are all out to take as much money from you as they can and are pretty much sleaze bags. Again, I apologize to anyone I may offend!!!

I will not be buying that one. I've got my order in at Toyota of Lewisville for a Hot Lava FR-S and it will be here in 3 to 4 months. Gives me time to sell my current car and see what i can get for a good down payment.

You guys are way more patient than me. I would never wait that long for a car that is already out. I guess its good that i don't care about color all too much ;)
