The diagrams are no longer available on this site. For reasons that are beyond our comprehension, Toyota of North America kept harrassing our ISP about them. It seems that they are really interested in quick profits from new car sales, so it is in their best interest that old cars fall apart asap.
The progress of course cannot be stopped, and the diagrams are available on numerous other websites around the world, so we feel this change will not have a significant negative impact on Toyota DIY-ers. For example google something like 78-01 ACCELERATOR LINK 78111C, and you shall find it. Contact us if you need help or have any other question on this subject.

SUPER LAME! Toyota USA is going to kill Toyota if something isn't done. Toyota USA cares nothing about their clients it is evident from this.
Other crimes Toyota USA guilty of..... supporting the US Chamber of Commerce - they are against clean air regs, against a quality health care bill. I can't see what Toyota Japan allows this abuse of their clients.........
As Toyodiy points out a quick google search can be accomplished, but is a PITA.
EVERYTIME you have contact with Toyota... COMPLAIN!

I guess I was wrong in another thread for thinking someone was a troll, and even though you have 3 posts, I'm inclined to think you're a troll, so I'm gonna post this: :dnftt:

Um, yeah bro. Sure.

Fight the power.

Wow, keep bitin' his head off. lol
Anyways, Toyota isn't the only ones. Infiniti (iirc) and Subaru is doin' that too. That's why only dealer or special shop has those diagrams (& they're not cheap).

You can always make your own diagram... well maybe not.

You're wrong again S2K. OldSkewl is actually a veteran member of Club4AG and has helped many an 86er with their car problems.

He's a cool guy.

And yeah, Toyota sucks for doing this.

You mean Republican? Libertarian? Someone who actually wants our Government to stop spreading their influence in our lives like an itchy rash that won't stop spreading? Clean air is one thing (smog is a real issue) but if I were the automotive industry I would be demanding justice for all the people that forced the Global Warming fiasco upon our company. Do you know how much money has been lost because of that load of bullshit? Jobs?

First on the list: Al "I invented the internet, me and me only, Knneeeeeeee!" Gore.

I meant democrat, I read it as they are against clean air regs (assuming emissions/smog/whatever) and against quality health care (assuming the healthcare reform nobama keeps trying to push through.) Perhaps I need to reword my first post.

Please don't turn this into a Democrat vs. Republican bullshit debate. There is so much ample ammo to dismantle either side it's not even funny.

Well son of a bitch. I'm just gonna crawl under a rock.

I'm a parts specialist. I've been involved in the automotive industry(service and parts) my entire life. I spent the first dozen years as a tech, being factory trained by Volkswagen, Datsun, and British Leyland(yeah... LOOOOOONG time ago). When the carb and points went away, I moved from the dirty side of the parts counter, to the clean side of the parts counter, where I invested another 13 years of my life.

The whole bit about which side of clean air, and health care Toyota backs, I admit was mis-placed.....

What isn't misplaced, is Toyota USA's attempts to limit your access to useful information so you can maintain your cars......

What are you going to do when the new FT comes out... trust the lazy ass parts counter person? I know for a fact, and I can report as occuring to me, that a dealer in Oregon told me a part for my AE86 was discontinued... when it wasn't! In fact I asked the parts manager, in an extremely public position why he felt his parts counter help would lie to me and tell me something was discontuued when it wasn't! He asked me to leave and not to come back.... I've fully obliged, and have found another Toyota dealer who doesn't lie to their clients

The reason I have only 4 posts here.... is I doubt I'll be buying an FT... I've got 12 large into a custom AE71 w/Loynings power, so it isn';t likely I'll be buying an FT

S2KtoFT86 12-09-2009 01:10 PM

Fair enough. I retract my previous statement as you know your stuff. :respekt:

My family is well known to Scott, the parts manager at our local Toyota dealership. 2 Mk3 Supras and 1 AE86, we've been a parts customer for a long time. He takes care of us.:)

What a contradiction of business to have a parts deparment, to have a company that openly supplies new parts for used cars to its customers, and then completely shut down sales to owners. Its like running a Sears but only selling hardware and power tools to companies and professionals to make DIY'ers have to let you repair it.

Silly nonsense, especially considering maybe 10% of the total automotive owner population actually do their own work. The other 90 would rather just have the dealership work on the car. All this move does is alienate a client base and have 0 effect on increasing sales volume at local dealerships. Because DIY'ers are crafty folk, who find ways not to get raped in the wallet for repairs.
