Tailight/Headlight Smoking?
Is there a way to have your headlights and taillights smoked then have the effect removed without changing parts?
|
Yeah, just spray it will clear, will bring it back to how it was..
:bonk: but seriously, no, that it, unless you just vinyl wrap them in a translucent colour. |
I dunno about you, but I actually like being able to see what's in front of me at night. If I were you, I'd just paint the housing black and call it a day, smoking headlights and taillights is just dumb in my opinion, not to mention affects your ability to see and be seen.

You actually can. If you mix black paint and clear and spray them, (I did this to my taillights, I'd never do it to my headlights) and you want it off, you can wet sand and buff it out, it'll go back to stock.

dont quote me, but ive heard wet sanding with a very fine grit helps

I think he meant wet sanding the painted product, not wet sanding the stock product before painting.
I hear things like nail polish remover and other such strong strippers can help remove the paint, but if you do many layers and lots of clears (like I did with my tails) then you may have a decent bit of work ahead of you to undo what you did. |
Use vinyl.

I was thinking to have my car all looked grayed out. Color asphalt, emblems paint matched and I was thinking headlights. In a way to have the car "asphalted" with the road. A cheap and removeable DIY way. Does that make sense?

What is the lens made of? if it is glass, it will just scrape off easy anyway, if it is plastic, go put some paint stripper on it and let me know how it works out for you ;) |
