BRZ Driver's Door Courtesy Light Won't Work

I tried changing my driver's door courtesy light to LED and i think i shorted it. the socket won't light up and bulb i put in now. did i blow a fuse or something? how would i go about fixing this? thank you.

No one knows?

Did you try flipping the LED bulb around?

delusional 11-06-2012 11:53 AM

Yup. I've even tried putting stock bulb back on and nothing works. Even though it works on the other door.

Someone else had a similar issue but they never posted an update on whether they solved it or not. You may want to ping them.

OP,

I had the same issue. Sorry to say, you are going to have to bring it into the dealership. They ended up replacing the BUI unit.

You can check the fuses first if you want, which are located underneath the dash on the driver side, on the left. Get your head under there and you will see a white plastic looking cover. Go into your car manual and look up the courtesy lights to find out what fuses it would go under ( can't remember at the moment).

My buddy who works at the dealership said there were only 2 available BUI units in the system, so i'd check this immediately and if its not the fuses, get your car into the dealership asap.

Ouch I hope I don't have to get anything major replaced. I will check the fuse box soon.

its a plug and play unit thats underneath your steering column, so its nothing major, but unfortunately I had to be a guinea pig of what the issue was. It was a few hours to swap out only because that BUI controls the alarm system and a bunch of other things and it was a process to re program the keys and such.

sounds kinda bad :( did they charge you for it or was it under warranty?

My issue is the opposite. My passenger courtesy light won't turn off. That's right, it stays on the whole time even with the door closed. I checked all my fuses, and I even checked the bumper on the door chassis that activates the window and light when you open the door.

I'd like to hear a followup from xxscaxx about that BUI thing.

I have the same problem. Passenger courtesy light will not turn off. I put in new speakers and thought I had screwed something up but now I wonder if it is the BUI problem.

i just had the same thing happen with light not turning off. How much did you have to pay to get the bui replaced. I know they will not cover this under warranty because i attached a door led projector to the bottom of the door and tried to wire it into the door courtesy light. The will be able to see that i created the problem.

Just following up on this thread. I installed door courtesy lights from one of the vendors here, and now the passenger courtesy light won't turn off. Did you guys ever find out a resolution for this issue?
