However, I've gone far enough down the road of making one myself that I'm kind of looking forward to it. Additionally, I have already stripped one of the seat bolt heads even though I was using a proper splined socket. They are just too small in diameter for how much torque they were installed with. Rather than drill it out on my brand new car, I thought I'd look into the console idea again. I removed the trim thanks to this helpful video:

And now I've made a Lego prototype of what I'd like to machine. The plan is to make it out of 1/2" 6061 Aluminum plate. But I have no idea what I'm doing with regard to materials or machining, so feel free to advise. The shape has to be kept as simple as possible, because I'm new to machining. A shaped plate with holes in it should be do-able. I realize those screws are angled in weird ways, so I am planning to try to cut some angled holes in my piece instead of just trying to force the steel to bend too much.

If you're going centre console why not just this http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15588

There's already two bolts under the centre console liner.

I saw that and liked it, but the Big Bend Open Road Race requires a 2.5 lb extinguisher which is too big for that space. It's also pretty heavy, so my setup will have 4 mount points instead of 2.

I moved this thread to the track forum. I have an updated prototype.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but how did you guys remove the bolts holding the passenger seat rails down? They appear to be E-TORX bolts and must have some thread locker on them as I was unable to break the seal.

My fire extinguisher (2.5lbs) won't fit in the center console so I built a custom brace to mount in front of the passenger seat and attach to the rail bolts.

Buying a breaker bar to try and get more leverage. Will that be enough? Currently using an 8mm socket, but figure I should get a proper E-TORX socket. Any idea what size the bolt is in E-TORX sizing?

Make sure you use a eTORX socket, e10. As you'll most likely thread the nut if you use a normal socket.

Bump!

Any new options or ideas?

I liked the look of the one, but links are dead.

I have an aluminium bracket on the front seat bolts, its fucking annoying!

I am thinking of putting nutserts into the floor, then mounting it to them

Also, CAMS now say the bracket has to be mounted with high tensile bolts...

Made an aluminium plate that bolts in using the original center console bolt holes. Extinguisher bracket mounts to the plate. Very securely bolted in and has passed scrutineering. Looking at it I'm sure it was designed deliberately.

I think Speedtech went into liquidation last year. Perhaps someone from NZ can confirm?
