KW V3s don't fit Whiteline COM C top hats

Hey guys,

Having KW v3s installed right now, and was just made aware that the Whiteline top hats apparently don't fit the KW v3s properly and need modification. So if anyone else is going with this combo, make sure your mechanic is aware and doesn't just bolt them straight on (will apparently cause grinding issues without modifications).

can you advice what issue and modification is needed?

same as the issue identified on this thread? http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ight=whiteline

that sucks to hear dude, was looking forward to having a ride in them on the weekend, did they say they can get it sorted out?

I have heard good things about the Vorshlag plates for the KWs?

KW V3s sound like one of the best out there but I dont see why they didnt come with top hats. :mad0259:

it is more of an issue of the Whiteline top mount rather than KW.

if you look at the link i posted above, according to RCE the washer should be fitted to avoid issue.

Vorshlag seems good but they are not cheap...

I can confirm Tein Street Advance work fine with the Whiteline strut tops.

The Whiteline tops look like the factory ones, so I would have thought you'd have the same problem with the factory tops.

Yeah, I'll ask for more details when I pick up the car, it's at MRT right now who have been working closely with Whiteline on their development car so they knew what the problem was right away.

Will keep you guys posted.

I put the washers in on my car (posted the other thread) and it still flexed like that but it didn't seem to bind at all.

It's because KW's are European style coilovers... You'll usually see European coilovers without top hats, but you'll see JDM companies use top hats in most applications.

Well whoever told you to buy whiteline, that's the problem as well, for not knowing. Vorshlag's are the best of the best, and for a new car, why wouldn't you consider anything other than the best?

Picked up the car end of day Friday, 30 minutes into driving a knocking sound in the front left wheel starts developing. So didn't end up driving the car too much over the weekend.

Brought the car back in yesterday and apparently I got a faulty set of Whiteline Com C hats (not related to the spacers required by the hats though). They replaced them with new hats along with the required modifications again and I'm currently waiting to pick up the car again this afternoon.

Through this experience I definitely recommend getting something other than the Whiteline top hats. I'll be looking into getting the Vorshlags in the near future.

I recommended KMac strut tops. Great quality the best adjustment range.
