BRZ License Plate Brackets
13 Attachment(s)
Hey all,
Got my BRZ about 3 weeks ago and enjoying every minute of it! Thought I would post this thread for all those BRZ owners who want to protect their investment and clean up the look of the front OEM plate bracket, especially if you have slimline plates. First off let me tell you that I’m in no way affiliated with the company I bought the plate brackets off, I’m just a really happy customer who is super impressed with the quality of these plate brackets. I bought them online from Lakin Custom Plate Brackets in Tasmania. I believe there is a write up on these for the GT86, but we all know the front bumper of the 86 is different to the BRZ. Included in the kits are the black powder coated aluminium plate brackets, full instructions, fastener kit, IPA wipes, hex key. Here’s a ‘before’ picture with the OEM bracket and slimline plates from SA. Attachment 19327 Removed the OEM bracket and OMG what have you done to my bumper Subaru! These enormous holes and speed nuts are not how the install kit describes how to do it. There should have been just two holes with metal threaded rubber dowels. Attachment 19326 Here’s the front bracket. As you can see there are two 3M Command mounting strips for my plates as they don’t have holes in the bottom of the plate; Attachment 19328 Here’s a detail shot of the angled mounting tab and integrated nut to hold the plate in the corner; Attachment 19329 This plastic strip was included, at first couldn’t work out where it went, but soon realised it goes against the bumper behind the bracket and neatly covers the butcher job left by Subaru. It will help prevent water getting in there as well. Attachment 19330 Attachment 19331 Plate mounted – sweet! Attachment 19332 Side profile – it sits right up against the bumper and you really can’t see the mounting screws at all once the plate is on. Attachment 19333 Plate on and such a huge difference to the OEM look! Attachment 19334 Here’s the rear plate bracket. Again this is the same as the 86. Front of bracket; Attachment 19335 Back of bracket; Attachment 19336 Bracket mounted; Attachment 19337 Plate on, looking slick!; Attachment 19338 I’m super impressed with the quality of this product and it’s exactly what I was looking for, a great buy. Cost me about $200 and in my opinion it’s a no brainer. Thanks again Philip from Lakin Custom Plate Brackets, awesome product and great customer service! |
Looks awesome, is there similar gear for the Toyota brother?
|
I was about to say that looks way better quality than the street fx 86 one, but then at $150 more you'd hope so!!
Nice job. |

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16842 Well worth it IMHO. |
do they only come in sets of 2? front and rear?
cause why would you need to change the rear plate holders? they are pretty damn expensive! |
Nah, they're separate.
http://www.lakinplates.com.au/index....4unc3ngqbbqaf4 IMO ~$95 isn't really that expensive for the quality product these seem to be. Everyone has different ideas of expensive though. ;) This has convinced me to go this way when I finally get my BRZ. Looks great. |
