Borla Booth - Exhaust - pics from SEMA
Check it out guys :happyanim:
My uncle who works for Borla has pictures of the booth up and I'm here to share it. There's a complete line of Street and Race products including XR-1 Race Headers (EL+UEL), XR-1 Mid-Pipe, Cat-back, and Exhaust Diffuser! http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...41665309_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...76576309_n.jpg |

This is Alvin from Borla Performance Industries. This optional Exhaust Diffuser was planned from the very beginning of our cat-back development. We oriented and positioned our (140496 cat-back) rear-pipe anticipating this component. It is not an afterthought product.
Our cat-back replaces the large rear OE muffler with pipe (saving 10 lbs) but resulting in an open cavity. For our concerned track drivers, the Exhaust Diffuser reduces this space in an integrated aesthetic lightweight component. It can be color customized and is easily serviced by removing 4-bolts. It connects directly to our cat-back (140496) and is designed to improve the airflow underneath the rear section pipe. It is not designed to create a low-pressure area like a race car diffuser. It is designed to ventilate and cool the exhaust pipes. There are no physical attachments to any body panel and installation requires no drilling or modification to the car. The material is 6061 aluminum and weighs 7-lbs. Please check our website in 2-3 weeks for further information, pricing, and availability. |
Borla will offer both EL+UEL XR-1 Race Headers. Please check our website in 2-3 weeks for further information, pricing, and availability.

While all of this is exciting, some of us would like something we can leave on AND pass emissions without it being JUST a catback. The only person I've seen even considering a catted header has been Nameless and they haven't updated in forever.

Diffuser looks pretty cool, would be nice to hear a sound clip though.

I'm wondering... if I run those race headers through the stock muffler, can I have the rumble and stay street legal?
LOVE the sound in that R&D video but I have to tone it down a bit for the neighborhood. |
Borla PN's:
XR-1 (UEL) Header 17284 XR-1 (EL) Header 17285 XR-1 Mid-Pipe 60541 Cat-back Exhaust 140496 Exhaust Diffuser 77012 Either Borla XR-1 Race Header will mate to OE over-pipe with OE catalytic converter. IIRC, this setup complies with SCCA AutoX STX rules. Running above setup would be 2-3 dBA quieter than our full XR-1 Race System. This video is FULL XR-1 Race System (no cats). SAE J1492 sound test over 96dBA. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3WrXQrBA44&feature=youtube_gdata_player"]Borla R&D: Comparison UEL v EL Header 2013 Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ - YouTube[/ame] |
can you give us a ballpark on the cost of the headers? nothing concrete, and we promise not to hold you to it ;)
