Skyline GT-Rs getting impounded argh

You guys see this news? I think it's such BS. First the gov is imposing all these performance car killing emissions and mpg requirements, and now they're even seizing these cars. Gov. must hate us sports car entusiasts

Watch from 2:44.

I'm a bit confused here. Is it that the motor doesn't meet with EPA standards, or is it just the car in general? Actually, it can't be an issue with the motor because I'm sure there are many cars being daily driven in the US that have RB swaps in them. Besides that, the EPA didn't seem to have a problem with the offending Skylines in question when they thought they were just kit cars with RB motors.

Can anyone else share some knowledge on this matter?

Thats rediculous.. tho I bet if there was no mention of Skylines in Fast and Furious I bet the gov't and police would be much less aware of that car and not really on the lookout for it.

I can understand EPA laws and all that in general, but I dont understand why it should be enforced on small specialty cars that really have to impact on the environment due to their low numbers.

In the end, I think the authorities in general aren't happy with the Fast and Furious culture so owning a car like that is giant bullseye painted on your back.

Yet another reason why I cant stand these stupid rules

Rules are made to keep discipline on our society.... but seriously.... who the hell are you harming with a imported car like the skyline? I think thats ridiculous.

That doesn't make it legal. Just because a car is swapped with this motor, does not make it US Legal. It's still an Illegal Swap.

This. Also, SR20 swaps aren't legal either.

It's that the car doesn't meet US safety requirements...

This thread reminded me of this article: Cizeta V16 Seized by the Feds.

And Hummers and Lincoln Navigators are the most environmentally-friendly vehicles and safest because of their skyscraper center of gravity right?

Sorry, I didn't think that resurrecting old threads was taboo on this forum.

It's been 3 years since this post, does that mean only 2 years left until we can legally import R32s?
