i also have switch back turn signals that i need to get a picture of as well. Those that dont know what switchbacks are, they simply stay a certain color untill you flip your turn signal and they turn from that color to amber. Little hard to explani but ill post a picture asap

Please post a picture of the 8k comparison to the switchbacks. I'm interested in them but I'm hoping that they look more like a 5000k white.

Hate. Really, really hate. Can't stand seeing these used on the road, as they're painful to look at. No, really, I've let people running these pass me before, and flipped my brights on, I hate them that much.

You asked.

I think the color temp is way too high, too blue for my taste. I prefer a cleaner white HID 4-6k range, you get better light output as well. Are you sure those are 8k? they look a more like 10-12k being THAT blue... Might be the camera.

Guff 10-29-2012 03:30 AM

8k is a little too much for my taste, but I do prefer HID over Halogen that's for sure. Retrofits are more to my liking than PnP. Also, 5-6k is where I usually like it, because that's where the best intensity and, IMO, color is.

Make sure your squirrel finders aren't killing any oncoming traffic!

I ordered 5Ks and received 8Ks by accident. It was way too blue on the road and distracting. After installing the 5Ks, definitely more comfortable for my eyes.

I want to take a baseball bat to every car I see on the road with lights this blue. Mostly because it hurts my eyes like no other. But just a little bit because I think it looks horrible to begin with.

Blue is the worst possible color for headlights, from a biological standpoint.

In the human eye, green is the best-processed color. That's why night-vision displays are green - your eye can best see those colors. Red does not do as well, but also does not wreck your night vision.

Blue light is used mostly to tell what color things are. You DO NOT have the same depth perception with blue that you would white or even green light. and you DO NOT have superior visibility in blue light to yellow - the only reason you might see any better is because it is brighter.

You're blinding other drivers, whose night vision is completely wrecked by that stupid blue color. They ought to be illegal.

Hate the blue look. Hate. Hate. Hate.

That's true. It's the same reasons the blue neons / blue backlits signs looks so fuzzy at night on the store fronts. I'm sure people know what I mean.

I got 6000 K's and I think those are even too blue, will probably just go 4000k.

Where I live you'd get pulled over for "having blue lights" which are illegal and the ticket is at the discretion of the officer.

In this case, I support the officer. They look terrible and are irritating to other drivers on the road.

DeeezNuuuts83 10-29-2012 05:08 PM

Also, 8000k is really high and isn't nearly as effective when it comes to lighting up the road... the light emitted from HIDs that are between 4000-6000k (give or take) is generally the ideal range.
