Will Scion/Toyota and Subaru (AS1) owners be united or divided?
I've always been into the whole online community and in-person meet thing when it comes to owning a car with an enthusiast following. But I've never owned a car like what this car will be - basically same car (both project AS1) but branded with two different brands.
So do you think that the owners of either brands of virtually the same car will get along online and also have meets together, or are they going to prefer to keep to their own sections of the site and have their own separate meets? Dunno how Toyota and Subaru owners get along and will get along with this car and haven't been around here long enough yet to see how the interaction has been. |
I think we'll get along. We just won't get along with those who completely rice their cars out. :D

I'm guessing it'll be a sibling rivalry. We will get along but always in competition proud of our brands. kinda like the evo vs sti, cobalt vs ion vs g5, 350z/370z vs g35/g37.

I don't think it will split like that. The aftermarket will probably not be any different between the two cars and those kinds of communities are usually formed around discussing aftermarket parts. It is not like BMW vs Audi or something where you have two warring brands that hate each other, Subaru basically has the WRX/STI and Scion has the tC which both have their communities built around them. The ft86 will be a new community separate from either of them. If anything it will probably end up in the Subaru camp because of the Subaru engine, but it's not like the Subaru people hate Scion. It will just be another car at the meets.

Used to be an EVO owner
Now may become a Subie owner. Well, $ 28000 for 200 bhp/ 0-60 in 6 sec / 2900 lb / 19/27 MPG? No way. |

Bottom line, there will be d-bags that will say theirs is better and there will be people that get along. You just have to find the right group to hang out with.

No division in the PNW, everyone here pretty much goes multi-forum now. If there is a Honda meet, everyone goes, same goes with Mazda meets, StanceNation, NWbuilt, NWnissans, ect... The lines between the communities are becoming thinner and thinner. However the subaru guys are still very alone with their meets, aka we dont see very many other communities in cahoots with subaru meets. I think this will blur more with FRS & BRZ bridging gaps.
|
Can we just go FRS/BRZ meet? :\ I guess I don't really want to go to Scion meet.
|
im down for joint meets:) no prejudice here lol

We can have FRS/BRZ meets without the rest of the lineup. Which makes this forum more closely nit and personal. vs a forum like NASIOC which spans across many tuner sub communities. We only care about 1 car here, not a maker. |
It will be the same as the DSM cars: somewhat different public images but one enthusiast community.

All i know the AE86 community received the scion FR-S with open arms, i know subaru people true to the brand AWD is kinda divided and scion well they will take what they can get but i have a feeling FR-S people will kinda separate them self from other scion fwd cars.

Toyota FT-86 owners will have to rub elbows with Subaru Impreza owners for tunning knowledge.
