Berk Technology Test Pipe - Review

This is now my third review of various Berk products. I have reviewed the single exit muffler delete, the dual exit muffler delete, and now I give you the test pipe review.

Quality of construction: Yet again, another beautiful piece from Berk. Looks great, feels great, sturdy flanges, and a new gasket comes with to make the install a breeze.

Installation: Can you get your car up on 4 jack stands? Can you remove nuts and bolts? Then you can do this install. I had my wife assist me because I am currently injured and have only the use of one arm. She is retarded at mechanical stuff, but she still helped out ok, despite trying to put nuts on backwards once. Everything lined up perfectly, install took 30 minutes tops....keeping in mind I'm crippled right now.

Butt Dyno: Butt dyno says this makes a little bit of power. Probably not a ton, but more than nothing.

Sound: Well....it sounds angry. It sounds gurgly. It sounds mean and nasty. It's also too damn loud for the street. At least with my muffler delete in place. I'm going to get some audio up soon enough, and will also test it out with the stock muffler in place, and possibly with the single delete in place. I'm not totally surprised that it's a bit loud considering that the car now only has a single resonator in place post header to keep noise at bay.

Here's some pics of the piece I received.

Is it bad for the car having no muffler and no cat just the resininator?

Not really, the only issue is loudness. Also, the back part of the car might start getting dark (but I'd expect that if it were no CAT at all).

Just need to keep it clean....

now you say it sounds loud but is it a good loud or annying raspy loud?

some parts good loud, some parts annoying loud. You could hear the car for miles.

FWIW the test pipe isn't doing that by itself but coupled with a muffler delete and I'd imagine its pretty loud. I have a different brand test pipe which with my resonated Perrin Catback is probably about as loud as many would want to go.

I swapped the stock muffler on last night. The test pipe paired with the stock muffler is VERY quiet. It's "slightly" louder than stock. I mean, you can kind of hear the exhaust now. Whereas stock, you can't really hear the exhaust. You can hear the stock intake again with this setup. This is probably the ideal setup for stealth power. You can feel the difference of the test pipe's power in the mid-range, but you can scream around without anyone hearing you.

I will be swapping on my single exhaust delete this weekend to test that. FWIW, the dual delete with the test pipe was just way too loud. It was obnoxiously loud.

That makes sense given my experience.

Swapped the single pipe muffler delete on, paired with the test pipe. This combo sounds really good. It's loud, but it's tolerable. Obviously this is an opinion of mine, but others have told me that it sounds really nice as well.

Had it out at the AutoX yesterday. here's a video:

So even with both of those you were able to stay under the 93dB for Qualcomm I assume so not that loud.
