license plate relocator

soo i bought the license plate re-locator that puts your front license plate in the side, in anticipation for my fr-s. when i went to take the car out of the dealership they wouldnt let me use the re-locator since its "illegal" in california and the drilled holes in my bumper...

i heard that you can remove it, add plugs and paint it in. is it noticeable if you go this method?
and how much would it cost?

You might as well just leave the stock plate in, if its already been installed. Most of the aftermarket ones look silly anyway, especially since its not as if you need it offset like an Evo.

But if you must, rather than repainting, you can probably buy these little plastic plugs in a shade of color that is closest to yours.

This ^^^ Mounting the plates front and center actually tends to hide them because we're so accustomed to seeing them there. Mounting them off to the side and poking like they do just makes the plate stand out a hundred times more than it normally would...It's always the first thing I see on a car that has one. Oh look! A license plate! And there's a BRZ attached to it!
