Some mildy interesting information about ISIS exhausts
1 Attachment(s)
So I ordered the ISIS catback exhaust from Import Image and I decided to do a little detective work on who ISIS actually is. They have no phone number, no address on their website. They say to contact them on Facebook. Interesting...
So as part of my job I deal with international products on Alibaba. If you don't know what Alibaba is that's ok, it's pretty much the go-to site if you need to purchase bulk products from China. You can purchase bolts, nuts, all the way to brand new vehicles. I got bored and searched for Subaru BRZ parts. What I found was interesting. It seems that either a producer in China is fabricating counterfeit ISIS exhausts (doubtful) or ISIS is simply buying these exhausts from a source in China and branding them. Here is a link to the new titanium exhaust on Alibaba: http://dg-quanshu.en.alibaba.com/pro...FT86_FR_S.html http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1351028816 vs http://isisperformance.com/content/p...33459_zoom.jpg Here is the link to the ISIS page: http://isisperformance.com/product/e...rs--subaru-brz Now does this matter? Hell no, I don't care either way. Products made in China are cheap, usually good quality, and are one of the best ways to make a quality product for a price Americans will pay. I was just surprised to find that I could order a batch of 5 of these, start calling them "post_break Titanium unobtanium exhaust" and charge $3,000 a piece on here. So that's my mildy interesting post for the week. |
So yeah,...A producer in china just ripped of the picture of the exhaust is all. Many companies via that site have ripped of pictures of products from a company I work for to market their own shit.
PS- I hope to god you don't buy chinese shit. |
So its pretty much cheap Chinese crap?
|
Pretty much most of the exhaust you find apart from a small few are 'chinese shit'

Strangely enough I got directed to alibaba today while looking for 6MM ID tubing at work and wondered "is this site real? do people really order from here?"
Now I know. |
I have ordered from there, was pretty quick delivery, the guy didn't have the right colour i wanted, but though in something extra for me.

Finding a picture of a product made by a factory over seas, doesn't mean a whole lot. When a product is good you will see a million identical copies at every manufacturer over seas.
I would assume that the EXACT same keyboard you are typing on is made in multiple factories and labeled as different brands. It is an unfortunate part of every market. People copy products. Luckily they haven't copied their Street Exhaust - http://isisperformance.com/content/p...aru-BRZ-01.jpg http://isisperformance.com/product/e...s---subaru-brz YET!!! I am sure it will happen eventually. :o( As for contact, ask any of their dealers for contact info and they will give it to you. They are in the business of manufacturing and wholesaling products. Phone calls from Retail customers is not what they handle on a daily basis. This is a HUGE Reason to be able to keep costs down. Let your dealer network support the retail customers and you don't need as large of a staff, there for cutting costs. Be sure to check out the newest Issue of D-sport Magazine. They did an Exhaust shoot out with some of the big name brands, Including the ISIS Street exhaust.... it did AMAZING compared to all the other ones. Sincerely Ken |

WTF? I've been turned off by Chinese titanium after doing a search for tubing and seeing the alloy description spammed with every single alloy and grade possible. Ex-Soviet or American for me please and thank you. BTW Alibaba isn't just for connecting with Chinese factories, it's just that most factories are in China. I'very found some Japanese stuff on it, but you have to look hard. |
HAHA really people what were you expecting?
And don't let anyone fool you, that isn't a copy, that is just a chinese factory screwing their customer over, that's why you don't send stuff to china, making parts is dangerous enough good ones will get copied, send it to china and they copy everything good bad or otherwise and then undersell you on your own product Don't believe me go search for Subaru SSM-III or subaru select monitor 3....and there it is factory tool for $1-$3000 USD. If you want craftmanship and you don't support slavery buy from a company that guarantees made in USA, if you shop by price only...well here you go. |

well...without a design patent or a Non Disclosure or Proprietary info agreement, or a non compete clause...it won't matter
and even if it did you aren't going to get a conviction or even court time in china...their major export is stolen technology and knockoffs... |
