After market mods SA

Hey folks !! Anyone considering or got mods for their 86 yet ?! I just order an Injen intake and a GReddy evo2 cutback exhaust !! :)

HellBoy 86 10-23-2012 01:45 PM

@Gp1666 how much did it cost you bru?

Gp1666 10-23-2012 01:58 PM

Intake was R4500 and GReddy catback was R14500

HellBoy 86 10-23-2012 02:44 PM

:eyebulge: lil expensive there? what is the power gains from the intake and from tha catback? must post pics as soon as it arrives.. what about warranty issues?

Gp1666 10-23-2012 02:53 PM

according to the charts for the intake you gain : +12 HP / +9 ft/lbs ~ and the pricing is fair for the intake i feel cause it costs about $308 in the US ~ plus shipping and customs duty ~ it ll be almost the same ~ as for the Exhaust ~ its pricey but im a GReddy fan ~ and the sound and aesthetics does it for me ~ :) the exhaust is on back order but the intake should arrive in the next week. will post pics ~

As for Warrenty issues ~ according to toyota SA as long as faults are not caused by the mods warrenty is still in effect and service plan will be intact. Since these are rather basic mods i think everything should be okay ~

Just got a quote for the Rocketbunny wide body aero kit ~ Gonna cost R46000 to get here ~~~ :sigh:

Hey there, Gp1666, what made you opt for the injen AI as opposed to the Greddy momentum series? Greddy evo3 looks stunning, good choice:clap

That's good to know, do you have it on paper though?

I wouldn't mind hearing that exhaust!

Btw how did you import your goodies? I contacted Greddy in the us , but they don't ship to SA , They told me to contact parent company Thrust in Japan, but website is not to user friendly

My friend who deals with GReddy in asia says they have alotta returns recently for some reason ~ so maybe just a bad batch or quality going down, but i wasnt gonna take the risk. ~ as for Injen they well known just for intakes ~ so thats my reasoning

Gp1666 10-23-2012 05:51 PM

and i have a mate who does imports etc ~

sav 10-23-2012 05:51 PM

Interesting, could you find out what the returns were about? Having studied those intakes in detail they seem pretty straight forward so I can't think what could possibly have gone wrong?
